I’m debating on berserker’s or knight’s. I mainly PvE and run Dungeons, so that is what i’m looking for. I just hit 80 and don’t know which to purchase. Most on these forums say the main role of the warrior is busting big numbers. So I guess my question is, is the crit damage from berserker’s that much of a difference? Is the toughness from knight’s that much of a difference? Please keep all responses PvE related.

i think knight is much better in dungeons, because of those toughness. u will be on ground much more often if in berzerker. soldier rune would be a good choice.

Soldier runes only make sense if you’re running shouts.

I switched from high vit/toughness/healing to glass cannon zerker. It’s alot harder, you have to pay more attention to the monsters and what they’re doing or you risk kissing the ground

I switched for WvW, if I was concentrating on PvE/dungeons I’d definitely go for something with toughness though.

Knights is more versatile, bit of damage and defense. If you pug alot, this is probably the better option.

Running full zerkers in a pug where you might be the only melee and/or the party in general is bad is really risky. Running full zerkers if you, yourself are not spot on good, is also a huge drain on your party since they will have to waste time resing you constantly which hurts everyones dps alot more than you running some slightly tankier gear.

Eventually you can just build both sets of gear though and mix and match depending on circumstances. Your first set should be something tanky to be on the safe side imo. Knights or Soldiers gear.

I prefer soldier gear>knights>berserker>everything else.

Heres why.

The way the warrior traits are are very messed up and this is why warrior is so bad compared to some other professions. The weapons you chose force you into putting massive amounts of points in trait lines to work effectively. So you lack enough points to trait defense.
If you spec Defense your attack will be kitten and will have no power to kill any other players.

If you go berserker you will lack in defense and vitality. Making you very squishy. Trying to make up for that in runes, traits, or accessories will kitten your build and toon.

If you Go knights the better option you will lack in Power, and Vit and crit power. However, there are a lot more offensive runes and ways in accessories to make up for power, crit and Vit. For example you could go knights with a crit power Rune that also adds vit like rune of the Wurm. And use a mix of accessories that will balance out the build. Making this a way more balanced build.

Lastly Soldier, your missing out on precession and crit power. Which is very easy to compensate for there are dozens of ways to get fury and add crit power and precision. So I believe for the strongest build its soldiers or knights, if your looking for the most balanced build.

Anyways if you go Knights or Soldiers and have accessories that give you toughness as well you can get away with not specing toughness and vitality in your traits and will be a lot stronger than a berserker that had to trait them to survive or didn’t trait them at all.

Remember that berserker also has STR as its main component, so yes the damage differential is quite large. Use berserker if you’re fully confident enough in your ability to survive, if not mix some knight’s gear to fit your need. Personally, I aim for around 1200 toughness (2 knight earrings), with the rest berserker.

Hm, difference. When I run full defensive build with soldier runes…HB does under 10k dmg, full berserker HB does 20-26k (could go tad higher, don’t have +10% dmg on bleed). So for dungeons, if you manage to survive, go more dmg, faster runs are always nice. If you get downed a lot, then add defense. Simple.

I personally like knights gear depends on ut build ur runing if ur doing shout heals i would say neither if ur doing banner regen i would say knights. So what play style u looking at?
