Is there a to beat Toker (on his rev)
No, but I’ve had plenty of other REvs blow me up. One trick I’ve found is that Revs sword 2 is projectiles so Shield Master can be pretty hilarious.
Honestly Rev rotations are extremely easy to predict for me, their playstyle is stupid repetitive and highly telegraphed. I haven’t had many issues beating them.

Nah this doesn’t work against a good revs, it might get his hp down but def won’t kill him. Most revs will wait for your shield stance to go down and staff 5 and sword 3 you, then aa = gg

It depends… a good revs will be able to go through your defenses…. I have no trouble going up against most revs, but I have a few that I can’t beat, toker being the repeated offender. Like I have yet to find a way to go through him defense. So maybe a condi warrior had a shot against a dps rev.

Has anyone beat This is Balanced yet? I have tried going all tanky, and I still can’t beat him.. how is his build any different from what everyone else runs?? He I the only revs who is killing me in 20 sec.
Have you guys had any success against him?
I haven’t had much trouble with revs but i have yet to fight one as good as him im sure
Papa’s Lady Luck- Necro
(HELL)
For me, every rev fight is pretty one sided. The most they can hope for is to last until i get outnumbers. There have been a few revs who i think are just better than me who have beaten me, but mostly they fall flat. I don’t know who This is Balanced is, but he sounds like one of the latter, so you may just need to be better to to beat him.
There are many significant parameters to take into account in a matchup: the classes in use, the builds and their counters, the skills of the players… You’re not supposed to win every matchup, this is team work after all.
Do you know what build he uses? This could help in devising a counter-build, if you aim at beating him in particular. Also, if you could post a video of you losing a duel, maybe we could find out areas of improvement for you, as well as patterns to take advantage of in your opponent’s game play?
Anyway, I applaud your fighting spirit here, and I wish you the best in this challenge!

Which software should I use? As far as the build I have no idea. Most revs do the wings thing then sword 3 then block. Precision or staff 5… this guy watch my stab dude, he always get me at the right time…. And his build just hit hard.

He is magic Toker. ( abjured member)

Rev is likely the best counter to demo/marauder/zerker-war, you can’t really do much except avoid the matchup.
Not the biggest of deals, since the build (GS Axe/Shield demo-war) is excellent in teamfights and most MU’s are either balanced or in favour of the War (except Rev obviously and Condi-Mesmer).
Hi,

Alas I’m not really knowledgeable in terms of recording software. As a NVidia user, I’ve been using Shadowplay, designed for NVidia cards. It’s free and easy to use, the capture does not make the game lag, it can be manually activated to either start a new capture, or persist the last 5 minutes played. If you have a NVidia GPU, then this is probably your best option. Otherwise, I don’t know.
The captured video is a mp4 file. You can then edit it, e.g. cutting start/end points, for instance using Windows Movie Maker (free), or VideoPad (the free version, I’m only starting to learn this one though, looks good so far). Finally, you just upload the video on Youtube, make sure the link is shared.
While this looks complicated at first, it’s actually fairly easy to learn. Recording lost fights is actually a good way to review one’s mistakes and improve – there’s often no need to edit and share, one’s own analysis often is enough to spot opportunities.
Finally, I don’t know Toker personally, but maybe he wouldn’t mind doing a few 1v1s with you and provide some pointers? Or if he hasn’t time, then maybe you could also ask for some sparring partners on the Revenant forum, asking for some tips if you meet great fighters?
If I were in your shoes, first I’d be kittened So I’d want to be mean and run some gimmick builds first, e.g.:
- Signet of might and CC through his blocks, to mess his rhythm and see if something good can come out of it (e.g. GS/Hammer, or GS/mace/shield skullcracker, possibly with the Zerk specialization),
- Full condi/heal kitten, let’s see if a power rev can still put up a fight that way.
I wish you good luck. If you ever put on some videos, then I’ll be happy to watch them and provide feedback on the game play (which may or may not be useful, as I’m not a master!).
Before this patch chaith on a stream said he had beaten toker with 1 particular amulet every time on his engy and lost every time with the one that was quote um quote the meta build.
Ive seen necros in the legendary ques beat his rev in the past 2 seasons as well.
Ive seen many of the Astral (Abjured) players playing on many different characters. Toker is easily the best at multi classing and phanta right there with him. I would of put toker as the 2nd best rev in NA behind tarcis and the 3rd best being wang.
Lastly people throwing out stuff like shield 5 and ohhh i beat revs all the time.
Its why people hate the league system so much, there is not 1 person in here who uses warrior who can beat a good rev/necro/mesmer.
These guys have around 15-20k matches played and scrimmed for hours a day in team settings/ dueled for hours in practice builds/ won 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 tournaments/ and are competing against the other elite players of the game in ESL weeklys/ WTS/Pro Leagues.
And you come in here talking about timing skills and using shield 5 ………………………………
Im sorry but if GW2 had a legit Pro Rating system for Leagues and your gonna compare these guys builds and abilities to your own. You wouldnt make ruby.

Bolded statement, i wouldnt say mesmer or necros.
Your last sentence, idk dude. Let’s not forget revs are S tier. Tarcis has lots of game on his warrior, and most of the time i go toe to toe against him. So, the skills are as important as a class mechanics. Also let’s not forget that revs are only 6 month old. Beating toker on his thief has never been a problem….
Anyways, as a warrior timing your shield 5 or 4 or you headbutt, or etc.., are your best bet to go against a toon whos is mechanically better than yours.

Idk. It just says a lot about NA if a person is considered the best NA revenant ,allthough he was/is pretty inactive and even spent barely any time on this class in comparison to other NA revenants.

i think he was the first player NA to give Power Rev a try (i.e. Hammer Rev during the S1) while everyone else was running condi rev.
Anyways, couldn’t kill him today, i’ll try again tonight. I almost got him though.

Its not a hard class to pick up. Immediately everyone was either gonna use malyx, shiro, glint. Shiro and glint are almost identical.
7 skill is stun breaker/ dodge
8 skill is a speed skill swiftness/teleport
9 is the only different skill vulnerability/increased speed
10 skill is knockback/stun
so you have 2 heroes that have almost the exact same skills. Also the specs are specific to each hero almost.
You dont have to pick skills
You dont have to pick trait on the skill choices because you dont pick skills.
There are a few more things but basically it comes down to mechanical skill/ timing/ understanding the profession a you are fighting. The rev is a fun class but it takes the least amount of time to think up a build.

And of course because you do not pick skills Revenant is extremely easy to predict. and thereby fight against.
lmao, i have just beat toker on his druid ,,, ehehe legit 1 vs 1
Rev nerf this patch while war regen not touched, looks like warriors are looking better and better
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
The current condition meta build can pretty much faceroll every revenant even with wanderers. Doesn’t really matter if the rev is invocation or retribution.

Not true, Season 2 i did fine as Power Rev. It had enough burst to take someone down quick with invocation . Not so sure now in S3.

When I say ‘The current’ I’m obviously not reffering to season 2, am I?
When I say ‘The current’ I’m obviously not reffering to season 2, am I?
Speaking of the current meta I feel Rev is a lot worse off than last season. For one, we see a crapload of condi warrs which rev has a significantly hard time against, even with Mercenary gone. Also, with precision strike not tracking in stealth anymore thieves has a significantly easier time dealing with revs since both rev heals can easily be negated by a thief. In addition, idk about you guys but for me the phase traversal nerf is huuuuuuge.
When I say ‘The current’ I’m obviously not reffering to season 2, am I?
Well considering you posted when S3 had barely started i think its a little too early to make a summary judgement. People need to get used to the changes. Merc amulet gone, rev nerfs, other class nerfs, thief buffs, war buffs.
It will take more than 2 hours of S3 to decide that.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
The warrior changes weren’t introduced with season 3, revenant didn’t get any buffs season 3 and the meta build has already used wanderers and mercenary.
So what’s your point?

Some people used Wanderers pre S3 but i suspect most used mercenary since its clearly a better amulet.
The matches done in unranked between S2 and S3 are relatively meaningless in that merc amulet gave more pressure and most players dint take unranked seriously?
Revs got nerfed but with the removal of merc amulet they will be deadly against necro and mes. Vs condi war i dont see how its any diff to facing condi necros and condi mesmers in S2.
Not wanting to start an argument here. I actually like playing war and it was my fav pvp class pre HOT, but i dont really know what makes it that much better vs rev than a condi mes or condi necro was in S2.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
The current warrior build has much better sustain than every necro build you can go for. Not to mention that warrior applies much more dangerous conditions than the necromancer.
And just you know, pro league warriors played 50/50 merc/wanderers so far. And I wasn’t talking about farming random revenants in unranked

Revenant is not deadly vs necro or mes, if anything the fact they now take wanderer or carrion and have even higher condi damage is a problem, especially vs necro. Wanderer necro is brutal on power rev, you just get destroyed (assuming the encro doesn’t have 0 shroud but a decent amount), not only because now the condis actually crit often but also because their duration is increased and since you have no cleanse well you’re forced to eat their higher damage for even longer.

Even if you lost 2v1 against him there’s absolutely no shame, the people who are capable of defeating him in a duel with any class can be counted on one hand and even then he’d still be better overall than them (even Daigo loses some matches and if Daigo played this game he’d be able to 3v1 on any class against three low legendaries and below).
- Not to mention that warrior applies much more dangerous conditions than the necromancer.*
I don’t agree. Chill drastically lowers your skill recharge time while poison reduces healing effectiveness. Burning and weakness are still nasty conditions however.
(edited by Agemnon.4608)
I see @Agemon. . And just to clear up one thing, I o ly play power warrior.
And about revenant, sick the patch bad revenant are struggling, the good ones are still holding their own. It feels as if the parch increase their skill cap.
I have, warrior should never lose to rev…mesmers are killable too
I have, warrior should never lose to rev…mesmers are killable too
on condi or power? if power can you share his weakness? like what helped you win?
This is just personal experience;
But on rev I swapped shield to axe. The extra knock down and shadow step against warriors running outrage forces to either use it for head butt or hold on to it. This paired with staff knock back and block proves to be too many CC’s for warrior to deal with successively. The only objective is not to waste a high damage spike when you know endure pain is going to proc.
On the reverse end, I am finding running a vanilla old school warrior with balanced stance and last stand provides enough counter stability to stop the rev variation from being able to keep enough CC up to fulfill their damage rotation.

He obliterates me every time. Held him at bay with full out condi build one time (which normally destroys e/o rev) I don’t know what he is doing, but… ouch. He just moves so fast…

Unfortunately, i dont.. his combo are pretty much like what every revs uses. But he knows when to use them, like when you dont expect him to. For example, Trackfull W (the new Abjured rev/sub) signature is taunt + their Staff 5 skill.
Toker, on the other hand, is just deadly. Like his timing is perfect. Next time, i am fighting against his rev, ill make sure to record it; and like i said, he use the same combos as everyone but his timing is insane.

May as well try figuring out how to beat Mayweather in boxing or Carlsen in chess. Even if you figure out what Toker’s doing he’ll just adapt and exploit his superior reaction times even if we take psychology out of a fight. But with it he’ll likely get you to do certain moves at bad times opening you up to a secure burst and deduce when you’ll likely try disengaging and save cooldowns and energy to account for it.
@Agemnon.4608, yeah, no. just no.
@OP: So i looked on youtube for some vids of him playing his Rev. The newest one I found was about 2 moths old. He’s good. But he’s not unbeatable. keep in mind 2 months ago Rev was much better of than it is now. I can;t really say what he does wrong per say as I’m not very famailliar with Revenant as a whole, but he does haev some tells.
- He swaps his stances almost exactly as they come available in combat. That being said, the way you can use this to your advantage is by knowing what the weaknesses of each stance are entry try to play to the weekness he currently has. Glint has the advantage of being very easy to maintain energy with. so it’s going to be hard to shut him down while he’s using Glint, but this is also your chance to damage him more as the heal from Glint is not as effective as the alternative heal.
- if you are playing condi you should know that he is rather weak to them. All revs are. when he dodges he’s clear one, if he has a sigil that cleanses he can cleanse a little bit, and of course he has one skill and his legend swaps that cleanse. So after he Swaps Legends you can bet he’s going to be short of condi cleanse for about 10 seconds.
- he swaps his weapons in between legend swaps. what i mean is that he likes to move around with glint, but he will not swap weapons when entering combat ntil after he swaps legends. This may not seem like much to go on but it is actually very important. It means that you can predict his swap combo pretty easilly. If he swaps legends you can bet he’s about to swap weapons so evading at the right time can avoid a massive combo.
- I’m sorry i can’t be too much help, because i understand Toker changes his build and his play style alot like any good player. your best bet is to just keep fighting revs in 1v1s until you can predict their combos. Playing revenant will greatly help with understanding what he can and cannot do. Personally i find revetments very squishy, to play as mainly because i cannot figure out howto manage my energy effectively. Toker does not have this problem
this is the vid i watched.
Idk just try not to eat precision strikes…I know it sounds stupid but that thing still does broken damage and chills you so the rev can kite you for a while until the next one comes of CD if he wishes to do so. I myself recently picked up an invocation rev, and daffawq my precision strikes deal over 7k damage to heavy armors. If you can reflect one fully thats definitely good. In my fight with revs I’ve often hound the deciding factor to be how many precision strikes I eat. The damage taken from the skill usually far dominates the damage taken from all other skills.
Well, thanks for the feedback this far guys. Especially @emkelly.
For example, Trackfull W (the new Abjured rev/sub) signature is taunt + their Staff 5 skill.
How can a Rev taunt someone on demand? From what i know there is only one taunt trait ""Eye for an Eye" and that is a passive taunt when CC’ed.

lol omg, read the wiki, i guess he proccs it everytime i stun him. This is quite interesting, so Headbutt + 100 b doesnt work on a rev with “eye for an eye”… 5 sec proc, and what not. I’ll try switching to rampage.

Jalis has an on-demand taunt for 35 energy, it’s pretty strong probably one of the strongest skills on jalis, I know I used it a lot when I first tried shiro/jalis rev, its absolutely amazing for setting up staff 5’s.
One note about eye for an eye is that it also gives protection. In theory headbutt→outrage→zerker mode→100b will still work, because when you proc eye for an eye with headbutt you will break it with outrage. However, the rev gains 5 seconds of protection when eye for an eye procs, so you’ll be wasting that 100b. Best alternative is to proc it with shield bash, then break with outrage or just wait the taunt out if the rev himself doesn’t break the stun, but in no way initiate a burst combo after you’ve just procced eye for an eye.
For example, Trackfull W (the new Abjured rev/sub) signature is taunt + their Staff 5 skill.
