Like i feel there is nothing i can do at all in fights, i jsut get ccd and rekt while everyone has all this fancy flashy kitten.

Only good time feels i get is when i combo kitten someone whos stun break is on cd. But if i mess it up im still dead.

Everything i do one my warrior i can faceroll do on my other classes =/

sigh- Even though I’ve played gw2 for 3 years, I can adapt. If you’re not a veteran of the game or never played warrior, I recommend that you don’t play the class. New players will struggle with it.

As a warrior, it’s tough these days. Thieves are in the same position as us, though.

I would say thief is slightly better due to mobility. I would suggest playing a skirmisher build and choosing smaller fights.

Should you play warrior in pvp?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Hell no.

In all seriousness, though, warrior is not completely unplayable. With enough effort and the proper build, you can still perform somewhat adequately in certain roles/situations. For example, warriors built for damage can still deal decent burst, and warriors built for support can still dish out enough CC/healing to be noticeable. But you’ve already struck on the heart of the problem.

Anything you can do somewhat well on warrior, you can do much better on another class/elite specialization. Without sacrificing as much or working as hard either.

If you enjoy a challenge, and don’t mind being the underdog, go for it, though if you’ve never played war before, it’ll be especially rough.

Disagree with the aboves. I have never played warrior until last week. I made a build and have been wrecking pvp to sapphire. Heres my last 10. I made a build specifically to wreck the classes most played in the meta.

Forums just like to QQ and not actually look for solutions, but rather, whine to anet to fix their struggles. I will be making a journey to legendary with warrior as my main, even though i’m quite new to it, i’m having a blast, and its highly effective.

I guess i could play DH, Chrono, Scrapper but I dont find them as fun.

Edit: Played 4 more matches, have to go to work, though.

I disagree also but for different reasons. The best time to start a class is when it is at it’s lowest. You learn so much more from being the underdog than being carried. All these Elite spec players will eventually be nerfed after Anet has sold enough HoT, then they will lose any edge and wonder why they can’t win fights.

However on Warrior, you will only get better.

I am legitimately happy that you’ve found success with warrior after having only played it for a short amount of time. I won’t question your recent pvp success streak (I’m primarily a WvW roamer, anyway), though given the controversies surrounding leagues right now, I warn you that some people might.

I do, however, have to politely ask you to see past your own success, and look at the bigger picture. Most of us here have been playing the warrior for years. I myself have played warrior almost exclusively since shortly after launch. We are not mindlessly QQing. We are not simply refusing to adapt.

I did not buy HoT, but I have played every conceivable trait/weapon combination on core warrior. I have sunk a considerable amount of gold testing various combinations of armor, runes, and sigils. I have tested and tried/mixed and matched every heal, utility, and elite skill available to me. I know my class. I know what it can and cannot do. And, yes, I know that even now it can still “wreck face”.

But please believe me when I tell you that warrior is definitely weaker than other classes right now. It suffers from many fundamental flaws in its design that other classes simply do not share. These flaws are well known, and can be easily exploited to great effect by skilled players on almost any other class. I could list them for you, but they have been discussed to death on these forums already. I encourage you to go back and read about them. If nothing else, knowing the weaknesses of your class will only help you improve in the long run.

It is worth it.

This way you can tank your MMR and win battles in streaks.

I’m mystic dragon, i do just fine in pvp. I’ve been in T1 nearly my entire gw2 life, and have over 1k levels in it. I’m not some amateur. I’ve long time mained an engi, so my mechanics are sound. I have also done quite well in the raids, finishing the first wing. I guess that makes me poor skilled, too. And for the uplevel, i only have 8 characters, theyre all 80, and 4 of them are ascended.

Not to sound rude, but you just sound like maybe you’re bad at the class and dont know how to properly play the game in pvp, or wvw.

See how unproductive that statement is?

Also, just try it and find out for yourself. You’re better off playing the class that you enjoy. Still plenty of Warriors and Thieves out there, even though both classes are at a low point right now. It will make you a better player if you avoid the faceroll meta classes.

btw most of the specpatch builds are still valid, and bezerker line opens up 2 main " branches" : stabzerker and CoF burnzerker , both of which are quite valid.

Now obviously pvp is gonna be a kittenshow for at least another month and a half because anet refused foolishly to make a balance pass prepvp-season ( and thus proving they learned NOTHING from the 2 test seasons with invinci-turrets)

It has already been said but currently, warrior is no good PvP-wise, no matter what some people say. I main warrior for 2 years now and trust me when I say that I really tried to make it work in the actual meta…

But you can’t be one sided when giving opinions here, the effectiveness of playing warrior in PvP currently depends on what you want to achieve.

Clearly, if you focus on 1v1 servers or hotjoins, warrior is definitely still in the game. I have a bit-above-average skill level (I think) when handling warrior and I can take pretty much all classes 1v1 with a fair chance of success (except for cele scrapper and such).

Sadly, for all competitive aspects, warrior is outclassed in every way… If you fare quite well with it while team queuing, you’re juste being carried by your mates. It was already the case even for players like ROM before xpack, who was mostly carried by Tage during teamfights.

But in the end, if you don’t look to be “in the game”, warrior is fine I guess. If you are, you want to drop warrior until post-season balance patch (hopefully).

That’s my humble opinion on this matter.

Sure, sustain is low once that HP starts going down, work around that, take something to prevent HP loss, Zerker stance + Endure Pain (x2), try to prevent health loss before it happens ( we aren’t good at gaining back once its gone(unless you run)).

When I’m not fighting Condition cancer builds (Reaper + Revenant) the class actually plays quite well… so yes, I am going to be one of these people now.

1) That’s Amber rank, you’re queuing against the dredge that haven’t even gotten past the phase where you can’t even lose pips yet so you’re never penalized for losing
2) Berk is actually pretty great at dealing with conditions (minus blind, that’s always awful), you’re not landing your primals often enough
3) I can post games where I’ve had 16+ kills and won 500-130 but it would mean absolutely nothing, PvP is a team effort and anyone can sometimes get games like that

Well it pretty much sums it all.

People are dangerously mixing up different aspects of PvP (I already stated that in my previous post but apparently, people like to talk/write more than they like to read…) : good players can still do fine on their warrior, that had never been the question. The real thing is that warrior is NOT competitive anymore.

To explain even more clearly : you can still do good in PvP with a warrior if you don’t care about objectives and team, but in no case can you find your spot in a viable team comp that plays against other meta comp.

Right now, warrior is melting too fast in teamfights no matter how good you play simply because of his obsolete mechanics… Either you go in the thick of things and die pretty quickly, or you try to be careful and are useless to your team.

Jzaku has it, we can play, and play well, but we are kitten. I still play it, up to tier 2 emerald solo’qing.
Hell, I’ve even had a couple guild teams ask me to play with them more.

So I think everyone needs to take a step back n relax, some of us are saying we do well despite being on our wars, no need to get angry at that.

And others are just sayin wars are in a bad state, compared to other classes, which is also true.

Just look at the esports and pro-leagues for details of how bad the situation is.

Of course, some people will feel they are doing ok with their warriors, but that is due to luck, skill or lack therof on their opponents. It’s possible to kill a man by hitting him with a rock, but that doesn’t make a rock into a weapon used by anyone serious about fighting.

Malpractice, if you found an effective build in the current meta, could you share it with us ?

For the moment the only warrior build that actually do well in the meta in my opinion is the gunflame berserker.

With that build you can actually kill most ennemies super fast and even those tanky mesmers, reaper, etc…

As a counterpart of this build, you are super easy to kill if a rev or something like that decide to focus you…

thief and warriors are bros now.

imho, If ur in higher levels of MMR, u’ll struggle with the Warrior, In lower to Average MMR u can outplay with a Warrior, Play what you love nad Not what Anet shows love, everything sees the bottom at some point, so dont make ur mind up based on what is considered good and bad in meta, the meta only really applies to top level players realistically.

u can perform with thief and Warrior, but its Sadly alot harder as ur playing much more underwhelming proffessions they’re in a worse spot but not completely unplayable, u just gotta be willing to get really good at it tbh.

Oh I don’t think people should stop playing warrior or thief. It’ll come back at some point, the meta is changing everytime.

If you have such a great time playing warrior and rolling over other classes with it, you should also try those different classes. I am sure you would be over the top of everyone
