I think a lot of people are getting excited by the changes. Sadly, Warriors won’t be able to do the classic zerky invincible charge and do 20K damage per opponent in range in 2.1 seconds ( or whatever).
However, remember that you can still pull the same kind of move , but just in a little bit more time. This is where timing, landing that cripple/immo is gonna be key to landing that damaging move and being back to business as usual in the zerky world.
We , as warriors, have received many buffs recently, and I’m getting sick of the negativity. The grandmaster of tactics has just received a serious boost in this patch, and rampage is starting to get adjusted.
So here’s what i propose :
1) Everybody calm down, get a grip, and play a few days with the changes. Try out the new events too as a distraction.
2) Observe the changes in the general multi-profession meta.
Go do some WvW. Thieves got stealth chaining nerf via the revealed increase, basilisk doesn’t immo anymore, and the quickness changes will affect everyone, and not just warriors. For example, it means less instastomps in wvw ^-^
3) Try another playstyle.
Ask other warriors what they’re doing. If you have the armor and trinkets, pay the 3 silver to retrait and switch it up a little.
4) After a few days have passed and you’ve seen firsthand the effects of the patch overall….. THEN have a researched opinion.
Let’s just…get it together everyone.
1) I am calm. And no, thank you, I’m not interested in PvE.
2) Again, I couldn’t care less about WvW. Zerg vs Gate game mode is incredibly boring in my opinion. I’m also perfectly capable of observing changes to overall meta. Quickness nerf is an indirect buff to all bunkers. PvP is about to get a whole lot more boring, as meta will move into heavy bunkering. Also, Warrior was hurt more than anyone else with those nerfs. We’ll be doing half the damage we used to during the Frenzy, while taking double damage for extra second (or 2.25 with trait).
3) Another playstyle, you say? I can say you never did any PvP. There is no ‘another playstyle’ for Warrior, sadly. Even if there was, I’m a sucker for giant swords, can’t imagine playing anything else.
4) With 1000 hours on Warrior, I don’t need a few days to say that today’s changes have completely killed class in PvP. Up till today there were about 5-10 people who refused to give up and still played Warriors in high level PvP. After the patch? There’s a good chance you won’t see a single Warrior in tPvP for the next month.
Please OP, refrain from posting on matters you clearly have no idea about.
@Detcelfer Hey, you can use Reverse Bladetrail with Leg Specialist to immobilize people and give yourself a chance at escaping. Oh wait, they destroyed that too. I guess we’re ****ed.
And don’t forget Frenzy was 5 seconds before, tooltip was just wrong.
Warriors where bottom in PVP and top dogs in PVE.
So they nerfed PVP warriors but gave PVE warriors an extra 4% crit on their banner of discipline (which they already used)

I’m just wondering how this one change goes against their main selling point – that Anet don’t do major buffs/nerfs (was repeated over and over by them in interviews) but small changes and see how it all works out. Now they effectively destroyed the one viable build we had and to boot, the superior sigil of rage is now obsolete.

Kaga, go to the mists, make builds for every weapon combinations except greatsword(not even in secondary slot) and try to find some party to do tournaments. I bet you will not find any group(anyway its hard because pvp community is almost dead) with your mighty sword/sword, mace/axe or w/e. Now try soloq tournament, you will be punished for every your spec. Maybe you will think you are bad at pvp. Okay then, reroll D/D bunker ele and you will win tournaments like boss.
Noone is crying kaga. We are simply sick and tired of waiting for actual fixes for the warrior. Patch after patch the warrior just getting more and more weak. I am running an Axe/Shield warrior since beta. The frenzy nerf was really uncalled for. Though i understand that they wanted to change how “Quickness” works globally. The only problem is that they forgot to adjust the amount of damage we as warriors are taking, when we are using it. I do not recall any other class to take 50% more damage while using quickness.
In the latest state of the game the said they know the problems the warrior has, and all they do is buffing “Banners” and changing “Kick”. Seriously ?
I love the warrior, i really do. I played 7 years warrior in GW 1 and i spent a bit more that 1000 Hours gameplay with a warrior in GW2. It´s really sad to see the warrior at this state.
So please devs , “Release the beast” do not hold it in a cage.

The warrior is a joke class. So are the devs understanding of the current state of pvp. Unless they play a warrior themselves, they have no c;ue.
I run a shout warrior so this patch didn’t affect me at all.
Quickness was imo kinda cheap, not only on warriors, glad they nerfed it. 50 % was kinda extreme change though, can understand why people are complaining.
Using Frenzy was a gimmick joke anyways. If you tried to use it for more than Haste Staking anyways, you were a noob.

sPvP rank proves nothing, you can get to any rank by spamming 2 on a thief.
Obviously this is a major nerf in PvP, I played 1600 hours on my War and I perfectly know we’re very reliant on spiking and HB helped finish off people.
I could go ahead and suggest many ways to fix this, but after today I’m 100% sure the balance team has never and will never implement any of the changes we suggest.
I’m also 100% sure no one of those 3 guys can play a Warrior, I bet all my money I would win a 1vs3 against them because if they think Rampage/Kick is the way to PvP as a Warrior it’s clear they never tPvP’d with one.

my friend, the elixikittenll for engineers is also always coupled with that frenzy; 50% increase in damage taken, in addition to haste; removing all your remaining endurance and endurance regeneration
the random utility is in the tool belt skill of the engineer, (i.e F1-F4 buttons)
on a side note, i think warriors do need more love in pvp

Warrior meta has not changed since the first beta weekend. Except for this patch, which basically made the warrior meta nonexistent.
Either reroll or quit at this point for me, sadly. Good thing I was learning ele.
Just to clean it up about spvp rank..I were mean the “pros” that saying l2p..i bet they havent touched pvp at all. Its would be fine with quickness nerf but we dindt get anything for it, even the debuff stayed the way it is. Time to leave.. either balance team or us.

Hah same. Absolutely loving how easily i destroy everything quickly and get away with it.
With all this talk about warriors being weak I’m not considering running one as my 6th toon. But what can I say? I love the underdog.
Totaly agree with OP. Warriors have to adapt to new situation, try new builds maybe and for the love of god stop moaning on these forums. I’ve been playing some pvp since the path and can honestly say warriors are still ok. It just now easier to tell who’s casual and who already spent some quality time with his warrior toon. Yesterday had a pleasure to play with guy running good old 100 blades + axe/shield zerker build. Guy admitted it takes bit more time to get ppl down, but in general he didn’t seem to get affected at all, dropping other players in few shots as usual (including my sorry kitten). Conclusion: good players will get along and keep up doing what they do best, casual/bad players will keep coming back here.

The problem with what you’re saying.. you can have 2 pro’s going at it.. 1 warrior 1 bunker D/D Ely or even a Ranger… there is only 1 outcome.. you can only push you character as far as the Dev allow you to. Sure.. that same pro can go into any other battleground and mop the floor with these new people. BUT when you’re in the same ranking system at higher level PRO PVP.. you WILL see the demolition of the warrior class. I say this cause I’ve always been attracted to Warriors in every MMO I’ve played..till this day, I’m trying out WAY to many different spec’s and built. There was a reason, GS 50xB was a good built, it provided you with mobility and burst.. now we have neither. The issue was we got nothing in returned when it comes to PVP. we might as well have a wet noodle to do our dps with. As a warrior you have the mentality when you go into a sPVP. “All in” that’s our job.. we have such “kitten” utilities to escape a situation. We have to be able to “kill” things at the very least. Use our G,S to gtfo of there also..

While I agree with your premise, your post implies a false dichotomy between casual and good players, as if they must by necessity be mutually exclusive. There are great casual players, and not all casuals come here to complain irrationally or without enough perspective. I do mean no offense, however, especially since I do believe that players should just adapt, but I just know from experience that “hardcore” is a needless term that doesn’t guarantee skill or mastery at anything, nor are any such players inherently superior to more casual ones, regardless time invested on their characters.
(You can practice-and therefore, develop-bad habits forever, no matter how “hardcore” you may be, while the supposedly “bad” casual may devote time to properly develop and learn to play his/her character.)

With the banner boost pretty much doubling bonuses, having a grandmaster of tactics just became even more about support and flexibility. Pretty much you can flip between regen banners ( taking adept+grandmaster slots) and shoutheals (master + grandmaster) on the go, and even have regen banners + cleansing warhorn. ( as cleanse warhorn will take the middle slot) depending on the situation you’re about to face
For example, i myself love banners in pve because the banners themselves can help plug a deficit in your build ( along with food and other boosters, like sharpening stones/crystaltuners) on top of the supernice blast finisher when they land . But when I’m doing WvW I prefer shoutheals for the sheer versatility, instant boostup and no-management involved ( versus lugging around a banner, dropping it someplace, chasing a guy down and then wondering where you left yo bannah).

Do you wear corrective lenses of any kind and were you wearing them at the time of your encounter with said warrior?
I think the warrior isnt as far away from being viable as some would think. The engineer for instance is much more of a kitten class.
That said they’ve done banners this patch, next one I hope they can focus on some other aspects. Including reducing dmg taken on frenzy.

Sounds like you got a case of the mads and stubborns. Zerker builds are still just as viable, you just have to have better timing / map awareness to avoid getting popped during the few extra seconds or so. I agree with the OP, you just need to chill the hell out. If frenzy was the only reason why you were good in pvp or you believe that it was the only saving grace that made warriors viable at all then you need to L2P and learn to do something other than press 2 all day.
Total L2 kitten ue everyone should be switching out frenzy with the new kick so you can bunny hop to your target and then knock them away.
