Leveling choices
Hmm if you just want to hit 80 craft it out. Leveling is leveling your fastest options are axe and GS. You can level with what ever weapon set you like but if time is an issue crafting would be the fastest followed by full (I guess strong gear at that level) Power, Precision, Crit Damage, with Axe and GS. Cookie cutter dps traits of course. Once you hit 80 use what ever weapon you like.
Take some advice save yourself the trouble and craft it out. Each craft to 400 equals 10 levels. If not eat the boredom and get done with the leveling quickly.
Edit:
Ahh you did ask about hammer. Um here
Use what ever utilities you like. I would go with more DPS oriented ones. Idea is to stun/knockdown/ knockback then auto attack. You can trade out embrace the pain for cull the weak for more DPS.

Try axe main hand.. mace offhand. I use this at 80 now, realy fun.
you get 2x vulnerability stacking. + you can have 3 cc.
1, bull charge.
2, axe slowing.
3, Mace offhand knockdown.
When i start i usualy go with the mace knockdown and throw the axe as i run towards mobs / players. (when they get up they are slowed).
then i use bullcharge if iam too far away still..
When i catch the target i use both Vulnerability skills to stack up 8 right away.
Then just hack them to bits.. you also get the F1 execution skill on axe in mainhand.
And then you can get even more mobility or cc with your weapon switch.
Before, i used Axe / Axe and hammer as lvling. also fast. but less cc and vulnerability.

Unless he is a milionair. and can buy gold via gems.
Crafting to lvl if it is his first char. is impossible.
Other than that, yes. crafting is fast. (if you can afford it)
Try fighting with a sword/mace combo or sword/sword or sword/axe. 2h hammer is not a good leveling weapon.
Also, use signet of healing during leveling and play around with stances & signets.
Use your F1 skills a lot.
Something like http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQRAnZ8XjkO1w9OqQMRBgTBoUKmzOA is quite fun.

Crafting to level from 1-80 cost roughly 20g if you play the market, craft efficiently, and sell what you make. If you are smart enough to farm your own mats much less. On top of that he has roughly 35 levels to go. If you stick to artificer (potions), jeweler, and chef you could do it on he cheap. 70-80 should be done in Orr imho for the mats and map completion so you don’t have to double back through troublesome areas.
No point arguing over it. What I told him was the truth. What of it?

Cool, thank you. I`v gathered about 7g I`ll see how much I can craft / how much the materials cost.
@TheGuy I don`t play the market, I don`t know much about the prices and all that, but I figure I should craft asap, because maybe the prices will go a bit up in the weekend.
I`ll try cooking first.
If you guys have more suggestions, you can whisper me in game.
Thx alot for the advice so far.
That spartan build that is floating on the internet is fantastic. Just made a level 1 warrior last night lol and took him into sPvP and ran around with an axe/mace. It’s great to the above poster. Two vulnerability stacks, a knockdown, and insane 1 damage. Also a cripple. The idea is to wield sword/shield offhand for the hamstring cripple and leap for a gap closer. That with the shield bash.
Overall very fun to play. If you can do it fast, using our elite buff skill, and frenzy right after you stack bleeds and a shield bash, you can land that knockdown and go to serious town.
The overall premise is not to use up your adrenaline because of a trait that keeps your damage higher when max adrenaline. You don’t even need evicerate. Heck, it’s another small gap closer when everything else is on cool down as a worse case.
This is PvP related – in PvE it’s even easier.
I know what you mean about the same weapon getting boring after a while. I get bored of any weapon on any class after about ~5 levels. Maybe 10-15 for ele since they have more skills and less auto attack.
I’d focus less on leveling as fast as possible and put more value on having fun actually playing. Unfortunately warrior isn’t the best class for variety of playstyles. The traits and utility skills aren’t as differing as other classes like ele or necro. Most warrior traits are “do more damage with X weapon” or “do more damage with all weapons” or “don’t be kited as much” (which doesn’t really mean anything in pve as mobs don’t kite you).
Biggest change you’ll get is try out a condition damage build (not only condition, get power + condition) and use sword + sword, longbow etc.

I leveled with a pretty terrible build/gear setup as it was my first char and I didn’t know that much, but I managed to get through pretty well – I was running axe/shield and had basically never used weapon swap >.<
Mainly wanted to say, crafting 1-100 is in no way equal to 300-400. If you actually level chars with this you would know, you gain around 1 level in the 1-100 stretch, but around 4 levels in the 300-400 bracket. The crafts start being worth a huge amount more %xp at these levels – crafting through the 60’s-70’s its a difference of 1000xp per craft in 1-100 to 20000xp per craft in 300-400.
But yeah, leveling is a pretty small part of all that gw2 can offer, depending on what you want to do in the game – use this time to experiment and work out how you want to play later on

Ya you’re right, 1-100 is a hair over 1 level. Never paid exact attention to it even though I have everything but Artificer and Huntsman at 400.
With that in mind, if you do craft to 400 I’d suggest making the rares as much as possible in the last tier (at 325+ i think it is) if you’re doing a gear based tradeskill. Buy the patterns for karma from the trainer. For me these sold on the TP for material cost so it was pretty much getting xp for free.
