Is it just me, or is the Longbow Burst capable of dealing damage, and even critting? I noticed being able to deal large AoE CRITICAL damage over time when farming earlier with it, and we all know burn cannot critical.

So the longbow burst deals damage? What do you all think of it? My impressions are it’s pretty weak, especially since it does not deal constant damage but only once every 3 seconds or so.

Warrior long bow is just sick… that AoE attack is just devastating… the area is pretty huge and the skill deals A LOT of dmg… I play warrior ranged only and I’m gonna tell you this much… often times I find myself using the bow more often than the rifle… AND long bow for the warrior is like a 1000 times better than long bow for the ranger…

Any way to narrow down HOW much damage it deals, without including the burn? I generally see it hit around for 670 dmg on impact. What are other’s numbers, and how much over time? (Not including burn.)

well burn is a huge part of it..

burn is the biggest condition you can have… so you can’t say, give me a number and not include the burn part..

Sure we can. Burn does not count if someone else applies burn.

I don’t know how much it does exactly but it is significant. Lay it down in front of a door during siege and see people clear out.

I think of the longbow burst as sort of like a necro’s well skills, but applying fire instead of vulnerability/blindness/etc. It’s nice for AoE tagging stuff definitely.

I usually do F1, 3, Banner 1, Pick up banner, Smash banner and I get 9x Might Stacks and so does all the people close to me and then I pop FGJ for another 3x Might.

Not the burning. The regular hits.

EDIT: Logging in right now, haven’t been on my Warrior in awhile so I’ll check how much it does.

EDIT 2: Okay, it seems to be hitting for 350-400 every 2 seconds and once upon “impact” so it hits 5 times. It crits for about 800-900 with my Berserker gear.

The Combustive Shot (longbow adrenal) applies a first initial Raw Damage hit that applies 2 seconds of burning, and subsequent hits based on how much adrenaline you used that each apply another 2 seconds of burning.

1 stage of adrenaline yields 1 initial hit +2 hits, for a total of 3 raw damage hits.
2 Stage of adrenaline yields 1initial hit +3 hits, for a total of 4 raw damage hits.
Max Adrenaline yields 1 initial hit + 4 hits , for a total of 5 raw damage hits.

Side notes:
-Arcing arrow in the Field Applies aoe 3 stacks of might, and Arcing arrow also gets a 3 second burn when you gain the trait Stronger Bowstrings.

- Fan of fire’s tooltip shows 2 sec of burning, but actually each individual shot applies 1 second of burning, for a total of 3 seconds of burning applied if used point blank.
– If Fan of fire is used in the Combustive Shot, combo field Fire projectile finisher
will occur 3 times and a total of 6 seconds of burning (3×1 second burns from
the skill itself and 3×1 seconds for each projectile will be applied

- Smoldering Arrow and Pin down each trigger the fire field projectile finisher combo.

-Dual shot (the basic 1 attack for longbow) fires 2 separate projectiles, each applying 1 second of burning to the target in a fire field, resulting in 2 seconds of burning for each Dual Shot cast.

Crit sigil’s proc off burn.

Example: Couple Longbow w/ Sigil of Fire and you have yourself an AOE machine due to fire blasts proccing off all F1 burn targets over 10 seconds.

@defektive yes thats correct, but keep in mind icd of the sigil. fire has a cd of 5 secs so itll only proc once or twice if youre lucky

Getting two off in that 10 second window is very easy to accomplish.

However, if you’re a condi build placing the 60% chance on crit to apply bleed would be better due to having no internal CD.

It does have an internal cooldown. Part of what made condi Warrior so bad. Sword/Axe was actually really cool in Beta, spin and watch people around you get 10 stacks of Bleed.

Sigil of Earth has an internal CD? A number of times I have been able to stack 3 bleeds at once with one attack, back to back.

Can anyone else confirm this since it’s not on the tooltip?

One of the warrior minor traits has 33% chance to bleed with NO cooldown! (That I know of…)

I can confirm sigil of earth, on the other hand, does have a cooldown, of about maybe 3 seconds. It’s still my sigil of choice however.

Thanks for the information, but most of it is incorrect. Before I correct them, let me catch everyone else up to speed on an interesting fact.

Stronger Bowstrings updates the weapon tooltips by actually replacing your original abilities with new ones. It’s like picking up an elementalist weapon in trait form. Due to an oversight, the 1200 range longbow has slightly different abilities than the 900 range longbow. Most of these differences are buffs.

Onto the corrections:

Arcing arrow does not get a 3 second burn when traited. The tooltip says it does, but a quick check proves it false.

Fan of fire is not normally a combo finisher. You must use Stronger Bowstrings to get the version that does, and even then it’s only a 20% chance for each projectile.

Again, Smoldering Arrow is not normally a finisher. You have to use the trait to get the version of the longbow that does it.

It’s a 20% chance for each projectile. This is also true with the traited version of the longbow.

Yes, ANet added in BWE3 timeline. Sigil of Earth internal cooldown is 2 seconds.

3 bleed applications from a single attack can come from Sigil of Earth + Weapon (like Bleeding Shot from Rifle) + Precise Strikes trait (from Arms line – 33% chance on crit).
