I notice that longbow is being used more lately. Like others that have, yes I’ve seen its effectiveness on points, but I can’t help to ask, is condi warr with longbow countered by druids?

I’ve played a match with two druids on the opposing team with mace/shield + longbow. The druid builds I’ve encountered seem to just heal and cleanse through whatever burns and cc I put out. Any warrs experienced this?

P.S: Longbow is my least used weapon, I hardly use it at all. As a matter of fact, I hate using it! Melee all the f-n way!

Druids are really strong atm and can clear all condis when going into ancestral grace, so yes they kind of counter all condi classes

I don’t know. Druids can be a pain, especially in team fights, but i can take them out with one Flaming Flurry>swap> Scoreched Earth, Arcing shot. they can clear all ondies, and often have antoher clear through signet, but once they have doene that the melt opretty fast.

1v1’s is a different story. They can keep you at range and proc ancient seds on you like every 5 seconds which is super annoying. also, i’m not sure this is a bug or just the way it works, but i have shield blocked a rapid shot from max range, and still taken the damage from the attack when using shield mastery. It’s like my reflect does not have the same range as their longbow, so it goes right through.

Longbow’s F1 has actually been nerfed terribly recently, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Unless you can force them to sit on the fire field or they are foolish enough to do so, the output is just horrible, the ticks on damage and burning is just too slow to be of much worth, you’ll probably get 1 hit in and 1 burn stack at best, for a full 3 adrenaline bar investment thats about it.

Also as mentioned the Burning is very easy to cleanse.

Hate it when Anet decides to kill certain Weapons and Builds.. you end up with dead gear specially if you invest in Ascended ones. They should really think these things through..

While the longbow can do decent damage, in both physical and condition flavors, I think bow users simply take it because it brings a lot to the builds, especially its F1:

  • It always hits, unless your projectile is blocked, reflected or destroyed. This nearly guarantees burst-based effects, such as damage boost (Berserker’s Power), endurance refill (Building Momentum), condition cleansing (Cleansing Ire), healing (Adrenal Health). Other burst skills usually require a setup to be landed (because they’re telegraphed, and opponents are wary of it), meaning less triggers from these effects. This is huge.
  • In its vanilla version, it is a large AoE skill, which covers most Conquest nodes, helping in the cap/decap processes. Even if the opponents decide to stay away from it (meaning they must have a ranged option too), their adds are not so clever – mesmer clones, minions, pets… all take the damage ticks, which is very good to disrupt the opponents attacks patterns.
  • It is a fire field. The bow itself can combo natively (#3 for area might, #4 and #5 for 100% added burn), and the warrior has plenty of other finishers, in utilities as well as in other weapons. Pair it with a sword for a fire aura, with a hammer or warhorn for great might building capabilities… The bow provides good offensive support.

Other bow skills are good, but naturally not better or worse than skills from other weapons! It’s just that it works beautifully with the warrior’s mechanics and traits, as well as with the nature of Conquest. Also, one interesting feature of the bow is that it’s a ranged weapon – as a warrior can be easily kited, this helps maintain some pressure on the opponents.
