Longbow is one best weopons in the game
It’s AoE damage can easilly be compared to a ranger’s, it’s nice that we have been given the option to go that way and be the typical castle archer. Nevertheless, it would be even better if we didn’t require a trait in order to bring its range to 1200 and also if dual shot did just a little more amount of damage, because right now it does close to nothing compared to how slow the projectiles are and easy to avoid.
I haven’t honestly tested the rangers dps to a warrior. I do know there long bow is alot better. In pvp i play the long bow at close range anyway. I do not use dual shot i mean sure it’s on auto but when i can i use 2 and 3 right off cool down. It’s the fire and arc shot that do the dps.
It is rubbish, absolute rubbish compared to the rifle.
Its only useful in siege keep defence
Arkktos – 80 Thief, DU
Down Under Guild – Stormbluff Isle
Which dummy are you using to test? The practice dummies in lion’s arch are world items, so you can’t hit them with bleeding, burning or critical hits…

I use the dummies in pvp
How i test this is simple i time how long it takes to kill a dummy it is rough i do it a few times though. I basically look for a consistency.
long bow for general pve dynamic events tagging mobs for loots exp
rifle for world event boss dragon fights
both for spvp
I like both. I lean towards Longbow for PVE and group fights, including a lot of dungeons. Riffle’s range and some higher crit abilities make it petty nice for single target fights and sometimes PVP.
I prefer longbow for situations where I want to kite, like soloing a champion, etc. I like to be able to kite them around in burning damage, pin them down, for a heal, etc.
I like Riffle for bleeds too, and extra range in WvW.
