Guild Wars 2

Hello all.

So before I start, I only intend to use this character for open map PvE. Not dungeons. I already have a Phalanx Strength build warrior for that. So please, if you will, I’m not looking for comments on how un-meta you might think a S/S warrior might be.

I originally was looking at making an Axe/Axe build. But since the axe off hand seems to suffer from restricted dps and with the added appeal of sword bleeds and blocks, decided on s/s. Perhaps if Berserker elite specialization does end up making Axe/Axe more worth while, I’ll try it then. Using Longbow for 2nd weapon set, for the synergy between it and s/s.

Anyhow. What I’m mostly not sure about is gear type. I’ve seen many people say Sinister is best, to better utilize the condition damage from bleeds and LB fire skills.

Also some say Assassin, for how the crit bonus boosts bleed damage. And then there’s Zerker gear. As many think that a strait up power bonus of direct damage is better over all then the added condition or crit damage. For slaying your enemy as quickly as possible.

Any advice on traits, utilities, runes, and sigils would be welcomed also. I’m still not entirely sure on that stuff either.

Go with Sinister, Rabid or Rampager (pretty sure that’s the order for it too, but rabid/rampager is close I think).

Then run Sword/Sword with LB on swap, get yourself fast hands, trait with all the good condi stuff, and keep bouncing between the two, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tVQM711PO0

Yeah for PVE never a bad idea to hop to Nike, Dekeyz, Obal, and really any of the DnT youtuber’s channels to check it out as well as DnT’s forums. Then there’s Brazil while no longer in DnT and possibly no longer optimized builds they’re a great start too.

Of course best to use these as a “baseline” and as you become familiar with the profession and build you’ll know where to tweak what when something is either of more use or something isn’t being used and you could maybe get a little quality of life bonus by slotting something different.

But yeah, much love for what those guys (and gal(s?)!) do (though thanks for the gw2skills link, I always liked that better as I’m more of a text guy than wanting to watch a video )

Hey thanks for the shout out. When the expac hits the best condi build will be Sword/Torch+Longbow so if its specifically a sword/sword aesthetic you’re looking for rather than just the best condi build you can get, you may not want to plan on it long term.

Not to derail the thread, but how’s warrior condi looking with torch? Spent all my beta time with reaper and a touch of Rev so never got a chance to check it out.

Sword/Torch+LB is a nice increase over the current build, but wasn’t where it needed to be to have impressive damage. I’m hoping the increased Berserk attack speed, ability to burst 3 times per phase, and double damage of the primal sword burst get it to the point where I can say its a strong alternative in solo play for Warriors.

The big drawback is without off hand sword you lose a block which can be important in solos.

In PvE, wouldn’t Destruction of the Empowered be better than the cooldown on a single banner?

99% of PvE mobs don’t have boons. And the banner is the single most important thing you can do.
