Looking for WvWvW Roamer Advice Please
If you’re roaming running glass cannon is tricky. However with a sword /shield + longbow set you have less defensive and mobility options then a GS + sword / shield setup. I think you could try a heavy condi or mix condi damage build. I think rabid gear + undead runes will catch a lot of people off guard.

ya i agree with this. If I ever roam in WvW solo capping flags and such, running into a enemy or two, the the high amount of bleed you can drop with this setup can throw off an unprepared enemy
Thanks for the replys.
I was thinking of a build something like this.
Any obvious flaws?

I think you’re a bit too much into the tactics line. Something quick i made up:

A couple of things to note-
You have no mobility on either weapon set which will make roaming quite slow and ineffective unless your group mates can buff swiftness on you always.
Longbow is a weapon which has no real defensive measures and minimal single target damage. Really it’s basically castle defense AOE from backlines only.
Sword has a burst which is frankly terrible assuming the opponents have a stun break. I know this is WvW but most roamers are good and will destroy a sword/longbow user.
Both sword and longbow look like rabid (condition orientated) weapons but they actually are not. You get more damage out of both going for power or even crit damage/precision then condition damage. Don’t run undead runes and rabid is the main point here.
Anyways hopefully you aren’t offended as i’m just trying to help and give some honest advice. This is WvW and i’m sure it is possible to roam with any gear/weapons but if you want peak efficiency I would consider a warhorn or greatsword for mobility and dropping condition damage plan.
No offence taken. I appreciate the advice.
I’m actually currently sporting a rifle / axe&shield burst build, and notice I’m squishy, and was trying to come up with a good roamer option.
I’ve tried warhorn before, but I find that signet of rage typically gives me the speed I need, and thought shield would give me some more defence.
I run hammer/sword+shield its fun.
I will post more at home, but I run with 2x rune of water, 2x rune of air, 2x rune of speed and with elite auto cast/10% boon duration in traits and signet mastery you are 100% perma running and also i think you have perma might/fury except for 10 seconds (whatever the elite is).

“Anyways hopefully you aren’t offended as i’m just trying to help and give some honest advice.” Don’t say offensive things if you don’t want to offend.
Now then…
1. You’re not helping if you don’t realize that stun breaks don’t break immobilize.
2. Undead Runes and Rabid melt face. Either you’re trying to keep a good build secret or you don’t know what you are talking about. Here’s some math: one flurry delivers 12 3s bleeds. With deep cuts thats 4.5s bleeds. Plus Earth runes add 2 7s bleeds and you may get 1 or 2 bleeds from your minor trait.
(130×4.5×12)(130×7×2)(130×5×1) = 9490 damage from one flurry. + 1000-3000 in physical damage.
A properly executed combo though uses bleed shot from longbow, combust shot, weapon switch with geomancy gives 3 more, auto attacks add bleeds + earth and trait procs. With good adrenalin production you should be popping off a burst every 5-10 seconds (time your weapon swaps) delivering alternating fire and bleeding attacks. So what if they got a couple cleanses? They probably wasted it to get out of my first immobilize. The main problem is I’m constantly running into the bleed cap!
So here is my advice: Run Longbow + sword/warhorn. Bring a buddy, like a guard or ele. Get rabid gear. 0/30/30/10/0 traits. Trait for adrenalin production and fury on immobilize. Use your mobility as your defense. You can use your sword leap to leap into and out of combat. Warhorn cleanses roots and cripples and gives vigor. Use that. Sword rangers wish they had a warhorn like ours. Remember all you need for perma swiftness is elite signet + warhorn. Don’t let your adrenalin go to waste and remember to bring at least one condition cleanser. Ok?

Timing berserker stance with burst attacks is tricky and takes practice.

I found myself to totally disagree with any of your points,
Sword offers mobility, not as great as gs but it does.+ awesome 4 sec + immobize(no need to channel) and no it is not removed by a stun breaker.Immobilize is not a stun.Sword is better paired with warhorn though.Still doesnt outshine the gs for mobility but it is equal if not even more usefull in a fight for the extra vigor, swiftness, weakness and con/immobilize removal.
Totally disagree about longbow .Is maybe the best roaming/small scale/1v1 weapon a warrior has.Insane both Power dps and Condition combined because of how easy might stacking is for us.All you need is learn to aim.I find it disturbing how overlooked this weapon is within the warrior community.Try to kill a good d/d ele with a gs
And for last ,longbow has no or weak defensive traits ?You have a blind,4 sec immobilize, drop the f1 burst skill on yourself and voila 10 sec immunity from melee glass canons. It is the best defensive weapon after hammer and don’t forget the ultimate thing about it ,it is ranged.
I see a lot of advice for rabid gear .Well here it’s mine : RABID GEAR IS A WASTE get as much POWER and CRIT DAMAGE as possible. With your awesome might stacking you can run +1300 condition damage while keeping all the dps from a Power build.Don’t get fooled by bleeds and burns, they are awesome extras but bow is a power weapon.
Source : Playing warrior since release,2 lvl 80 warriors (LOL)played actively and yes i played rabid gear for the last 2 months for nonzerg combat. My feedback is rabid vs PvT or zerk is a 50% loss in dps while conditions only lose insignificant potency comparing to the dps gained from power build.
