Guild Wars 2

Hi!
First of all thanks for taking the time to read the post, its my first on the forums!

The first class is started GW2 with is warrior, later I switched to necro for estetic purposes (played it in most of the rpgs/mmos I encountered).
As far as weapons go I prefer 2hs, so hammers or gs in warriors case.
I mostly wish to do some dungeons (which i neglected so far) or open world pve (dungeons are 1st preference) and am looking for a DPS build that would combine the two 2h weapons.
I won’t pretend that I know my way around building a successfull build, thats why I direct my question to people who know their way around the warrior profession and hope for their help.
So far I ran with GS/AxeMace and full Zerk gear. From what I gather on the forums it’s one of the best specs for DPS warrior.
Now my questions are:
-is it possible to build a warrior with a compareable damage output for pve with GS/Hammer? (no min/maxing plz)
-if yes, what gear combination would be preferable, full zerk or zerk/celestial? (please elaborate)
-what would be the limitations of this kind of build?
-what I learned from the forums so far is that people who use this combination (GS/Hammer) tend to rund with the 30/0/0/10/30 and use GS for the Hundred Blades and switch to hammer for the Earthshaker/Auto Attack

For PvE, Hammer isn’t really so good because its strengths come from its CC, both because it makes the enemy unable to retaliate as effectively and the Hammer trait lets you do 25% damage to disabled foe. So unfortunately, hammer isn’t really effective in pve because “trash mobs” don’t really need to be cc’d because they generally burn quickly, as well as anything important that you need to DPS like a boss generally has a lot of defiance stacks, so trying to CC it is generally ineffective. So, to answer your question, no you would not really be able to have comparable damage to axe/mace (Axe auto is very fast and does a lot of steady damage) with hammer because while hammer does hit hard, its slow (which can be problematic for having to cancel animations if you really need to dodge or something), and really shines vs CC’d enemies, which is unnecessary in pve.

If you really wanted to do it though, id say that what you suggested is fine, full zerk, getting the trait in defense wouldn’t really be worth it unless you are feeling particularly squishy, but a good majority of pve is dodging key attacks so zerk is generally preferred.

Well, unfortunately base hammer autoattack is considerably lower than axe, so it’s a tough sell dps wise. Merciless hammer trait would greatly improve that (and is a very popular way to go for pvp), but you can’t make much use of that in pve because you’ll lose the benefit of zerker’s might when using earthshaker, and you can’t stun frequently due to defiant buff.

^ hammer and gs autoattack are both not huge damage, axe is much higher.

You are comparing Damage per hit and not per second. Axe is by far the highest Autoattack. I’m not sure on the full numbers on but someone messaged.

i always die alot with axes and i never autoattack on my warrior

if you don’t autoattack with axe you aren’t doing it right

and if you’re dying a lot on warrior…
