about half the time i use the mace 5 skill in combat it does pretty much absolutely nothing except trigger the full cooldown

anyone know what is causing this? is it elevation issues / target issues / mob soaking it up / ?

Anomaly: This skill hits twice: once with a 1200 range wave and once with a ~130 range melee attack. This is not noted in the tooltip.

Notes
The projectile keeps to the ground, meaning that it can be aimed only horizontally; its path vertically is always along the ground. It also means that targets cannot be hit if there is a gap or large elevation in the ground between the target and the caster (eg. harpy jumping puzzle in Uncategorized Fractal).

yeah i think is
- elevation issues
(if the land is not even, flat, i think it may miss)

- mobs soaking it up
(i think skills can only hit up to 5 targets, so if the shockwave already hit 5 targets it will not hit anything more after that)

- target issues
(well if they move out of the way or dodge, they don’t get hit?)

I have this problem often. It’s either when I’m trying to LOS mobs around an object and my tab targeting is glitched and won’t target the mob that I’m trying to, or when I’m kiting something and trying to use tremor at the same time. It won’t work.

yeah, i notice it a lot while kiting

what’s “better” to run OH then (do a lot of fracs) assuming I don’t need the block from shield/sword, would i be looking at warhorn? (i’m assuming axe 5 is still a dps loss over AA?) warhorn would lose 5% from dual wield, guess sword for the block is good enough

Dual wielding isn’t too big of a deal really if you’re on 65003, because you’re (hopefully) going to only be swapping to axe when you want to either make use of an energy sigil on the warhorn or whatever, to blast in a combo field, or to apply weakness/acquire vigour, or all of the above. The main source of damage will still be GS

If you’re on 66002 that’s another story… you pretty much cannot afford to swap at all without sacrificing a very large amount of your DPS.

i’m typically running 6 in arms, yeah

started using axe/sword because i was getting cheesed off about the poor control on the mace 5 and alting mace/horn or longbow depending on frac, learning to use the block is not a bad thing

Basically you have to be facing the target in a straight line,even the slightest bit of movement may trigger it to go on cd without firing off,it has no line of direction to the target..imo it just need to get some work because it’s happening so much that i render the skill completely useless,especially in pvp.

Just like every other ranged attack, if you are not facing the target properly when using the skill, it puts it on cooldown and does nothing, if you are too close to your target, that can trigger the “not facing” factor.

Sucks when trying to fight certain melee classes as a ranger, key skills don’t go off and get put on CD.
