Mace/Shield + GS still viable in WvW?
Anything’s viable, but some tend to work better than others. If you find it works well for you, then use it. I personally like Gs / Hammer more, but Mace/Sh GS isn’t bad.

Not the best, but viable. What build are you using?
I find it to work very well with reflect on block.

Well after playing With Axe/Shield + GS, i still find more success with Mace/Shield + GS. In just one combo, the opponent normally is left with about 50% or less hp[unless they go full bunker style]. With forceful GS trait, the whole combo can be pulled off quite often, so even if the opponent has stun breaker skills they wont be able to dodge the 2nd incoming combo. mobility isn’t an issue her as well since the cd are quite short on your GS.
the point of a skullcrack build is to be at max toughness “full Cav gear” and using “Unsuspecting Foe” trait to be at 100% crit chance once you stun your enemy.

full valk >.> toughness is a lie
warrior already got high base health why would you go for more ?

It’s a condition meta atm, and I personally agree that having more health is better atm. I sit at around 27k hp with full guard buffs, and I notice that it helps a lot against condi classes such as necros and engis.

After taking you guy’s suggestions into account, i tweak the build a little and this is what i have:

Personally i prefer killing my opponent(s) ASAP rather than dragging it into a long fight. I’ll have the lemongrass to cope with the conditions and with the 70 vit boost i’ll be sitting around 22~23k hp which seems to be tanky enough for me.
P.S. Thanks for the suggestions and tips guys!
Try this. 30% crit+Fury+UF=100% crit chance. You have about 85% uptime on fury, which should be enough.
Hoelbrak>Strength in WvW.
Air+Fire on GS will mean an insane burst when you finally land Skullcrack.
Paralysation and Energy on Mace/shield, nothing strange.
Take 30 in Defense for both Dogged March and Missile Deflection. Especially the reflect will help tremendously with closing the gap when fighting ranged. Good pressure too.
Also, vitality is overrated, even in a condi-meta. You might want to run with a little vit, but with guard stacks a warrior sits at like 22k base. Should be enough. Also, with this much toughness you can forgo Endure Pain for Berserker’s Stance and not get wrecked by blind. BS is also an almost sure way to escape as you can not be soft CC’d.

I’ve found success with hammer/axeshield with bolas and bulls charge, with burst precision trait no one expects to get crit by eviscerate with no fury up or let alone even get hit by evis should they dodge earth shaker.

No mobility though.
Decent dueling spec, but only if you take Burst Mastery IMO.

I’ve actually been using 0/6/4/0/4 with strength runes and it works beautifully. Obviously you miss Reflect Missiles and the power boost. I’d probably say at this point Hoelbrak runes are the better choice because of the Strength Rune Nerf. -20% condition duration > 5% damage + might duration. I just can’t afford to switch back so its w/e.
However the might you get and the 10% dmg to bleeding foes more than makes up for the power loss. Plus you get GS CD which means more frequent gapclosing, and perhaps overall better DPS due to things like whirlwind and bladetrail having lesser cooldowns. And you can escape fights better.
Also I would use Sigil of Impact on GS
Impact > Air > Fire
Hydromancy is a good choice because it provides chill, at least a 2K crit (sigil of air or fire can’t crit) so it is better burst.
Both 0/6/4/0/4 and 0/4/6/0/4 are good mace builds, each obviously with their own strengths and weaknesses.
