Mace and protection-hate
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Mace has a role as defensive weapon, not offensive. applying weakness on auto attack, albeit slow and sometimes suspect to land consistently, having a block, a daze, and a stun make it a nice option for a warrior in WvW or some hotjoin to provide damage mitigation through weakness and smart use of your stuns, as well as a nice complement someone running a burst build alongside you by hurting their endurance regen and providing stuns/getting someone to pop their stun breaks.
I use mace/shield and hammer a lot in WvW when I’m running ikittenman. More in line with what mace’s auto attack already does would be something that maybe removed might or fury, give it a more obvious potential for mitigation or something. I am an idiot and could be way off.

Arkham – [Ark]
Since warriors is going to be a boon-hate class, why not make Mace be a protection-hate weapon?
Mace is designed to penetrate the plated armor. To make mace a protection-hate weapon for warriors will make sense.
I like this perspective.
Rather than the linear borning (get X amount more damage for X amount of boons) I feel this would actually make the cache of weapons warrior gets more viable for the situation. Currently that’s already the case but minorly.
You use Mace as a defensive weapon, making foes do less damage to you. But introducing your idea would give it another use, to help break down the towers of a highly armored target.
Perhaps, as a protection hate weapon, it could also apply vulnerability to anyone with protection on all its attacks with the burst doing higher damage against such foes. As a weapon, it’d still be primarily defensive as none of this increases the damage of the weapon to a large degree but it does help our team who are also attacking your same target.
Eh…just an idea though…but in the same vein, and if you were ‘modifying’ boon-hate, how would you do the other weapons?
Mace = protection hate
Hammer = stability/defiant hate? Would be cool if, when striking foes with defiant/stability, you gain stacks of frenzy to attack even faster. Just a thought
The Mace is what I consider to be a technical fighter’s weapon. Adding some kind of Boon Hate would fit the theme of the weapon.

Sword: Vigor-Hate
Axe and Greatsword remains untouched as a pure offensive weapon.

I like this idea, leave the axe and gs the way they are but include certain forms of boon hate on mace/sword and hammer. Would make for some new and interesting builds and it would be a reason for me to take my mace and hammer out of the closet.
“…let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die;.”
Just hate on protection would be fine by me. Expecting any class to just use “raw force” to power through a 33% damage reduction is laughable. That’s exactly what protection is to protect AGAINST.
