Main Hand Shield.

so u can crouch walk while blocking all the rangers to shield bash stone mist gates?
Interesting idea. But they’d have to program so you can’t wield 2 Shields, and I don’t know what the auto-attack, or if there would even be one, would be
I’d like 2 shields. So I can have my other weapon set be 2 shields. And then I’d have four shields.
Yes.
Also.
Mainhand warhorns.
Ok since a mod went berserk on my last post I will make this one more fulfilling.
This makes no sense.
Why the shield is made to protect the wielder while he uses another weapon to finish this enemies, phalanx tactics used multiple people with shields to protect a whole group now if everyone carried two shields these would make everything well…not good at all. The shield isn’t a weapon even if it can cause enough damage with a bash to kill a human being “a reason while shield bash damage should be higher” it is a defensive mobile cover that is mainly use to deflect, parry or knock down opponents. Also the weight of a real shield is too much for a person to actually maneuver while using one.
Go one step beyond.
Main hand shield, off-hand pistol.
I’m a shield lover in pretty much every game I play. I’d like to see more shield love, but I think I’d rather see a 2H shield than a primary 1H shield.
That would be a tower shield. They be useless in the offense.

Ever been hit over the head by a tower shield?

You kittens don’t even know what the prefix “meta” means.
I would love to dual wield shields. Even if its totally impractical from a realism standpoint, just once I would like to run around slapping stuff with shields.
Number 3 ability needs to be a Captain America boomerang shield skill that bounces between multiple targets.
I am also reminded by my run through of Dungeons of Dredmor where I used two shields and the unarmed skill tree to kick my opponents to death. Good times.
Not only should you be able to equip shields in both hands, but you should be able to equip shields in your armor slots…
…
(just kidding)
I’ve always wanted dual wield shields in games.
How would I envisage a mainhand shield? smaller/lighter with sharpened edges. You can slash a bit with it, and bash your opponents with the face of it. Whilst providing some extra protection to the forearm.
In game terms it would be reduced damage to a regular weapon but still capable of doing damage, however it would mostly end up functioning like a mace mainhand I expect. You could potentially also get a shield throw (fling your arm out letting go of the grip and having it fly off your wrist). However, GW2 is probably the game it would have the least effect with due to the lack of passive blocking, the only way it would even be representable would be to give the autoattack a short protection boon.

Tower shield gonna be awesome, the first skill could be for defending instead of attacking, while the other skills could be shield bash or like Neandramathal.9536 said shield throw (like RO Shield boomerang), and the adrenaline skill for it maybe shield rush (run a long a path and push/throw enemy aside)?
Tower Shield Skills:
1. Shield Ram: Charge into your enemy to do damage.
2. Shield Block: Block the next attack and stun the attacker for 1 second
3. Shield Wall: Ram your shield into the ground doing damage and create a barrier.
4. Shield Throw: Throw your shield into enemies for damage and cripple.
5. Shield Protection: Hold your shield up high to grant random defensive boons to allies around you.
Main hand warhorns as well
We need microphones.

Shield throwing and then see heads falling. Love it. Make it happen. Now.
Either this thread is utterly kitten or I’ve suffered a stroke. I can’t decide
What about shields underwater?
Vizunah Square
Though I haven’t seen any Engineer use shields,
they actually got the captain america style shield throw,
where you throw the shield to a target and it returns,
when they wield a shield, though can’t remember if it’s single or multi target.
Waiting for dual wielding shields, focii & warhorns… well, maybe not horns, that could get loud.
Horns should obviously be a 2H weapon with pushback and lozenge summon.
Ok maybe we could have 2 shields, but being able to hold them the opposite way, via a trait or something. Then it would be legendary!

Main hand Shield, offhand Spear. PHALANX!

So just to throw in on this — while dual shields sounds odd on paper, it has been used in history. A shield is both an offensive and defensive weapon. Since the Phalanx was described – the round shield was used highly offensivly when in 1:1 combat – stikes to the head (like a high hook strike) as well as direct bash/upper bash style hits. Now most think of shields as the bulky blocking walls – but technically anything that can be used to block/deflect was classified as shield. Targe’s were rather small but highly useful.
….annnnnnyway, in order for a dual shield to work on paper, the shields would have to be of a design where the two combined form a direct “wall” in front of the player, but seporated would be more like 2’ wide spars on the foreams of the character. Strikes as such would be similar to throwing punches, except the shield tips would extend about 1’ past the knucles. Think of it like how a baton is wielded – just wider and flat in design. You could totally make a highly defensive build out of such a character and still make it reasonable in terms of the physics of offense.
…don’t think anyone has tried it yet either in a game right?
Interesting- Especially since shields already have weapon damage on them.
