Hammer is a really fun weapon to use, but doing so pretty much condemns the player to sucking. It does not supply enough dps/mobility and has no sustain. I was thinking that on the hammer 4 skill, when it uses the whirl animation, making that a block. It would only be a half second block, which is still pretty useless, but it would give the hammer a little more sustain. Another idea I had would be on skill 3, to have it create a bubble that either reflects, or absorbs projectiles. This would give the hammer a value in team play as it would mitigate ranged damage. These are just a couple ideas I had. I main warr and would love to be able to use the hammer again in competitive gameplay such as wvw/pvp and not suck haha.

On a side note as an avid pvper… war is obviously garbage, the cd’s on ep either need to be reduced, or the duration of ep needs to be restored to what it previously was. I had to completely switch off war this season as the sustain is just not there.

Anyway hope the anet team reads this and finds a way to make the hammer great again.

Regarding your sidenote; idk how you played warrior pre nerf, but not being able to facetank all powerdamage for 8 seconds is a good thing. Now one actually have to play smart. And i feel that we have plenty of sustain trough evades, blocks, adrenal health, kiting and even cc. I use armored attacks with demo amu, swapped endure pain for stab on demand and I dont feel squishy at all. No facetank=good change!
I see too many complaints about warrior being sheit now, while I honestly thunk it was only brought in line with others. Shieldbash nerf was uncalled for tho, and arc divider should’ve been reworked instead.

Id love to see the hammer improved by the way! Making it slighty more mobile or defensive, or even making it have some sort of boonremoval outside of sigils to counterplay stab might be just enough

I mean I would hope after 4 years of playing war I could play it smart haha. However against other players who are actually good and know rotations, war is just too easy to counter. You never see it used in high ranked matches anymore or tournys, for a reason, it cant compete. Head butt and shield bash could be evaded by my blind grandma with their cast times. And just about anyone with a brain can kite a war for 4 seconds well both eps burn out. Power war is really just useless as it melts in team fights, and is easy to beat in 1v1s, condi war is some what better but still cant really compete. Anyway this is what I have noticed at least from my gameplay this season. Classes get nerfed/buffed every season, war was op last season, sucks this one, will probly be good again soon.

I thought this was about suggestions to make hammer great again and not to complain about the current state of warri in general.

My biggest issue with hamm and the main reason im not bothering with it despite what can be changed on the 1 – 5 skills is the frontal coned aoe burst when youre in berserk that gets easily sidestepped.You dont even need to dodge that thing and most of the time you jump behind your target.Its far too easy to avoid or simply miss,not talking about stabi or any other sources of avoiding damage.I think the changes i propose are pretty straight forward.

Turn Ruptering Smash into a full aoe like Earthshaker

Add an 1 sec immob on Hammer shock

Unblockable effect on Staggering blow

Reduce cast time from Backbreaker to ½ or ¾ and add 5 – 10 stack of Vulnerability

Yah I agree regarding the highlevel play, and warrior will see ups again. Anet seems to not know how to balance it properly. You could try core warrior with gs, axe/sh, atleast I find it better than zerker since nerfs. It has a lot more even damage output with strength runes and might stacking and feels more fluent with reduced gs cds. Stacking might gives me some room to invest in toughness along with armored attacks w/o loosing a lot of dmg. Anyways thats just my 2 cents, sorry for going off topic so much!

1 sec. immob on Hammer Shock is a great suggestion and would help starting the combos immensely.

Also, how about turning adding some sort of a persistent AoE effect to Earthshaker so it triggers Cleansing Ire/Adrenal Health even if it misses a-la Longbow? It’s just painfully slow and Warrior gets heavily punished for missing burst skills.

I used to main a GS/HAM warrior before it was meta (way before HoT) and it was magical. My fav class/build by far. Then some nerfs happened (not a lot but enough) for me to look at other classes (Engi I believe).

I miss the days of Gs/Ham or Rifle/Ham and if they do buff up the hammer or re-work it, I may go back (I main teef atm). Although I am starting to see people in WvW running ham/gs, I love fighting these, despite once I get into the CC chain, im boned but idc, its a great sight.

Also as a side note, the change to shield bash was unnecessary, headbutt was overdue, and arc divider could have used rework (again…this coming from a teef main).

Hopefully they will rework a few things for you guys. 100b still does a decent amount of damage (esp when traited for quickness).

More than anything else I would just like to see hammer become a fluid weapon. The coding for it seems to be ancient and never improved. The skills sometimes lag for no apparent reason, mostly earthshaker, which is supper annoying. I feel like at lot could be gained if the skills simply worked as intended, but that is probably harder to fix than just buffing.

I would really like to see a 1/2 second of stability added to earthshaker. It is almost comical, in a sad kind of way, how it has a huge slow animation that is easy to blind, dodge, stun, fear, etc.

GS and Hammer need a rework anyway, Hammer F1 on zerker mod is useless and GS rush still misses targets even without blindness.

Things to fix Hammer, have F1 as aoe knockback with small duration of might. Have GS Rush into leap not sprinting. There are other ideas could be suggested tho.
