So let me state my concern before elaborating on the situation: I run a dungeon oriented 30/0/0/10/30 full zerker warrior with GS and axe/mace, slot skills FGJ, Shake it off and signet of might, with signet of fury elite. Although he is fantastic at his purpose, I’m a bit worried about taking him to Orr with all the risen throwing around poison, bleed, burn, not to mention fun cc’s like daze, knock down, pull, chill, immobalize, and… (insert things here that makes running through orr solo a major pain in the rear). My concern is, is this dungeon oriented warrior build suited for running through orr and getting general map completion in PvE?

I know I’ll probably have an easier time doing this running the “Sonic Boom” shout oriented tanky build but I worked hard to get all my zerker gear (although no ascended trinkets besides amulet), and killing things fast is fun! So do you guys have some advice to share for running this kind of build in areas that require a lot of condition removal and cc management? (Shake it off is helpful but it isn’t enough, and mending heals for crap I really prefer having healing surge over mending all the way)

Try slotting berserker’s stance. If you still struggle then maybe you should throw 20 points in defense for cleansing ire and take a longbow so you don’t even have to hit anything to remove conditions.

A good advice? Grab a sword+warhorn/greatsword combo…. get 30 points in tactics for 30% boon duration. Add the allmighty signet of rage and you are set with perma swiftness and 3 mobility skills (leap, whirlwind, rush)… the rest is your decision ^^

If you can run dungeons with your build, then open world PvE should be no problem for you. Dungeons are a huge step up in difficulty and damage from open world and quite frankly almost any build will work there. I’d suggest that you just try it as is, then make some changes if necessary. FWIW, I use a similar dungeon built warrior to farm all of open world, but spend most of my time in Orr with absolutely no problems.

Well Im running Dungeons with a team or pug, generally condi cleansing isn’t an issue. I don’t mind the big hits and whatnot most of those are telegraphed and I have time to avoid those. In Orr I seem to be picking up condis on me out of the blue and getting dazed/pulled/interrupted every time i try to channel HB (though thats fixed with going axe/mace).

I’ll try slotting balanced stance, signet of might is nice for the increased power but for general trash mobs I have plenty of power as it is, thanks for the advice!

If all else fails I’ll go with the 20 in defense to take cleansing ire and long bow but I hope it doesnt come to that…

You could try a 30/0/10/0/30 build and take Dogged March to reduce the condition duration and still keep your DPS up. If that isn’t enough, then you could go 20 into Defense to get Cleansing Ire and change up the build to use burst to help clean conditions. The new PvP LB/melee (Sw/x) builds like 0/30/20/0/20 work well in PvE also, FWIW. These builds don’t have as much DPS as your current build, but are made to use burst on cool down so will clear 3 conditions every 10 sec or so, as long as you can land your burst (which shouldn’t be too hard in PvE).

Most of the trash mobs also telegraph their CC moves if you know what to look for and can be dodged, just like the big hits. In Orr the mobs will agro from a much greater distance than most of the rest of the game, so you are probably being hit from behind by mobs that you though you ran by unnoticed only to get hit by a CC move after you’ve gone by them.

Your 30/0/0/10/30 build is fine for Orr, just swap the Discipline Adept Trait to Warrior’s Sprint and the Discipline Master Trait to Mobile Strikes. Then when you’re map traveling use GS + S/WH + Bull’s Charge + Signet of Rage.

That gives you 2x Swiftnesses, and 5 movement abilities, all 5 of which break immobilize thanks to Mobile Strikes, you’ll be zipping and zooming around Orr completely unstoppable, un-cc’able.

Run Mending + Shake It Off! + Signet of Stamina if you need more condition removal.

When you reach your destintion and need to fight, swap S/WH for Axe/Mace. Optionally, swap the two Discipline Traits back to damage traits, though for trash mobs that won’t be necessary.

This is exactly what I do for farming Ori Ore/Orrian Saplings/Herbs, works a treat.
