The title pretty much says it all. When I play my Ranger or Necro, and I find the situation getting too hot, I can usually switch tactics to put the brakes on the damage and also gain ground by building my health back up. (PvE and WvW only, I’ve never done PvP). With those 2 classes, I’m able to mostly stop the damage and recoup, not just slow the damage.

So what does the melee Warrior do when the situation gets too hot? Basically I want to stop losing by attrition.

Example: I Invariably I find myself surrounded, taking out one or two foes in melee range while being pummeled to death by trash mobs on the side.

A side note: I’m really aiming for GS as one of my weapons, they just look awesome.

In WvW i use my mobility skills. You have too much heat? GS Skill 3 will evade while you get out of the crowd, then GS Skill 4 to get some distance. You also have a good leap with your sword. You can get out of range in a few second. Endure pain is also a good skill when you are in danger. The Healing signet is powerful so just run a couple of seconds to get back to a comfortable amount of HP. In PvE, dodge and GS Skill 3 is enough to evade all big attack and the healing signet take care of all the small damage that i can dodge. But i usually do speed run in PvE so enemies die fast. For longer fight you could have some problem depending on your group.
