Moved to Zerker hammer build and I like it
I use a more defensive build

I like it, I can be very annoying and painful but I have mobility problems, when Bull’s charge is on cooldown I struggle to close the gap between me and my target(s).
Earthshake isn’t always reactive enough to close a gap = it’s relatively easy to kite me
I’ll try sword/warhorn combo with leg specialist, looks very good for mobility.
The build I linked is sooo much stronger defensively its not even remotely close.
- traited warhorn
- constant vigor + energy off hand sigil = tons of dodging
- ability to disengage and reheal (root and run, leap over stuff and run, swiftness)
- controlled condition and impairment removal (plus boon conversion)
- Blowing people up puts them on defensive, not you (11k final thrust)
- 2 on demand stability buttons
Both builds have melandru, hammer cc, and ok AC/hp
traited warhorn is probably the warrior’s strongest defensive option. The mobility, controlled condition and impairment removal, and the boon conversion are all great.
Vulnerability to protection is a huge swing in survivability. Warhorn owns cleansing ire by a mile.
mace/shield + unsuspecting foe build variants worked pretty good for about a week. Skilled players kite and watch for thakittens just too gimicky and works great for killing nubs and then you are limping around after good players.
If you want more beef for large scale zerg fighting switch the armour to knights. and signet of might to endure pain.
Trying to go “iron man” results in a build thats a super weak low dps guardian. Mobile bursty + cc, gives us a niche, and roots help lock down targets for thieves to assist on + and warhorn is great group support.
I ran into a warrior with a build close the skull cracker variant, he got to about 30% life and hit shield block, I hit unblockable button and final thrust him into dirt. He played well, but the mobility and lack of vigor was very noticable
He just did not have enough burst/dodges, and man I knew how he felt having lived that build one day too many.

Shouldn’t you have enough swiftness between Traited Warhorn and SoR to drop Warrior’s Sprint for Sigil Mastery? Especially since you you are running 3 Sigils.
Also have you looked at swapping life steal food for -cond duration on self food (nice synegry with Melandru and Dogged March), and Mending to Healing Surge?
I played with your build this afternoon with the same changes Sagramor is talking about. (not exactly the same build because i don’t have full zerk armor right now)
Indeed warhorn is very nice, but I had a hard time using the sword. I’m not pro at all but the 2nd skill misses a lot even when in range and 3rd isn’t always easy to land.
How do you use it? Right after Earthshaker?

I dont like dropping warriors sprint due to boon stripping, too many necros and mesmers in wvw. I did run it that way for a while, but went back to warriors sprint
I was running lemongrass, but conditions were coming off with mending, horn + melandru and dogged march. the extra heals and crit chance were giving me more bang for the buck.
I have been running in groups that burn stuff down pretty fast so that can certainly skew results. I for sure keep big stacks of – condition, – cond + -stun, omn berry pies, and crit/crit damage food on hand.
I am constantly swapping the build to longbow + sword horn then back to hammer sword horn. might signet to endure pain.
I was think of sneaking in axe/mace over hammer once in a bit. man i love swapping to axe for monster eviscerates, once in a bit. You know those fights where some turtle run away thief is dancing around… thats what I like about warrior. Here comes the boom.
Fun

2 in lag can be an issue. Turn off shadows and other fluff can help alot.
3 is classic arenanet npc pve style animation. Right after they dodge and you are closing on them can be hard for people to spot. This morning I got a thief who hadjsut stealthed, I counted 1, 2 and started it where I thought he would come in at and got him for 9k. Ya it can be a pain to land, its best when they are focused on something else or out of escapes.
Alot of time I close in with sword and go to hammer. I like hammer to be the suprise, let everyone dodge around a bit debuff them with weakness, swap to hammer and chain cc, if still alive back to sword 2 then 3 on sword often lands nicely (esp with the root on 2).
I use roots and stuns to setup rogues on team to destroy people. Sword F1 on a called target and 3 thieves on the dude… 100 to 0 life in a blink.
The more I think about it bola would be good in the mix. esp in a heavy thief team

I forgot to mention combos with sword & horn, my 2 favorite being stealth and retaliation.
Its funny when people ask when did warrior get stealth? lol, duration is a lil low but its still fun.
Guardian symbols are all over for retaliation, I use those every chance I get.
