Hey guys,
I’m sure most of you Hammer users, myself included, are a tad upset with the upcoming changes. I love hammer, I use it in every mmo I have ever played. I’ve grown a little tired of the whack a mole system anet seems to have going every big patch so I just decided to revert back to an old school build, with the help of my friend Scarlet, I came up with this gem.
Although it is not new in nature, with the current changes it does shine very well. I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Build is centered around the use of SW/SH and GS. You have a few options here, I went 30 in Arms to pick up the extra crit chance, furious reaction, and Oppurtunist.
We are relying on cancelling Flurry —-> 100b. since after the patch Mace won’t really do that well. Not to mention most people suspect hard CC warrs etc, so they bring a lot of stun breaks, and don’t expect as much soft CC as immob.
Oppurtunist basically gives you free fury with every Flurry. And when timed correctly, it will be up every weapon swap, just in time for your opponent to sit in the immob and eat the entire portion of your 100b. not to mention the sheer mobility the build has to offer, you can reset at will.
You have a few options for traits as well, you could drop the extra 5-10 in arms, and go 30 in Defense, since Armored Attack (25pts) goes from 5% to 10% after patch giving you extra power. Or burst mastery if you so choose.
Zerker armor will obviously allow for bigger crits and hits, but my personal preference is for a good balance between both dmg and survivability, and I still hit ridiculously hard, and have no issue taking multiple 1v2’s and winning in those situations.

Just because people are “expecting” stun warriors, it doesn’t mean they cannot prepare for both. Melandru + Lemongrass still gives -65% duration on Immobilize, thus making your Flurry pretty useless.
Also, no Berserker Stance with only melee-range burst skills? That’s not a very good idea, especially due to Blind.
Other than that, I have been running 0/30/20/0/20 for months now, though my choice of weapons is usually Sword/X with a Longbow. Furious works really well with Flurry and Combustive Shot.
As for your alternative setup: Versatile Power isn’t worth the trouble, as it’s completely inferior to Sigil of Battle. I would consider either 0/30/25/0/15 or 0/25/25/0/20 instead.
Also, your sigils are rather questionable. An on-crit and an on-swap sigil on the same swap isn’t really a good idea, as getting most out of your on-swap sigil means the on-crit ones are a hindrance. If you want damage, use Sigil of Force or Accuracy instead.

Thanks. I’ve just been running this for past few weeks and really, only the occasional player gives me issues. Zerker stance is a crutch, I used it when playing Hammer just for my lack of disengage ability. I still don’t have issues with necros.
Flurry slides off maybe the 1% of the player base I encounter, perhaps it’s just the servers I’m up against. But the player base here is pretty dim skill wise.
But I appreciate your insight, gonna try the latter build and swap some sigils around and drop BC

When you’re a warrior you can bring a logging hatchet into WvW and still only the occasional players will be hard to kill.
Jokes ofc but there’s few builds for the warrior that will give you trouble with most players, since most players are crap.
