My experience with the Warrior.
I’m sorry you had to undergo this terrible experience, but I’d say it’s a rite of passage for every warrior out there. I always try to warn the obviously new players off the warrior class to prevent this from happening.
the best tpvp build in the current state of the game relies on running a Longbow to even be able to reliably hit things, so expect a lot of standing off point applying aoes (something a necro or an engi can do much better imo), refer to defektive’s thread for it.
While I do believe warriors need some tweaks/fixes, I’m to the point (after playing all the classes) that they are pretty well balanced. I’ll honestly say it’s that other classes (certain builds to be precise) that have too much. The top professions are boon spamming cc heavy builds with access to either full invulnerability or consistent target breaks. Throw in a system that’s more about staying alive on a node or pushing people off and you have the reason why warriors are generally viewed weak.
If that were true then warrior should be a great dueling class. Except it’s not. Just look at the very recent dueling tournament to see how embarrassing every fight involving warrior is. It’s so bad that the commentators sound bored most of the time and only get worked up whenever the warriors actually look like they might actually win.
“oh, oh he looks like he’s- oh…. Never mind he got wrecked.”
Warriors are just inferior in nearly every aspect, even doing damage as we need to land cc to perform bursts while other classes don’t AND have better sustained damage than us.

My guild who is competitive in tpvp tourneys, etc wont even let me bring a warrior any more and i dont blame them. None of the top teams bring a warrior nowdays and even QT Hman who played a warrior for the longest time has now switched and has been maining an ele. Warriors really have no place in the upper echelons of tpvp.
I found that when i created my mesmer and i was like… wow warrior it really is terrible, mesmer no matter what build you use it is effective always, it has even more sustain than a warrior the other day i tanked 2 thieves in spvp and they barely scratched me, then i escaped and 1 followed me, and i say ok though guy lets do this, i was 1 vs 1 with this thief that in the end runed away for his life seing that he couldnt possible kill me and he was going to die it was matter of time, when i got all the foucus on lets say 5 players that runs to me to kill me its so easy to disengage with my mesmer, in any of those situation my warrior would die for sure, and i run pretty tanky with him but armor does a kitten in this game (one of the reasons of this balance issues), the other day i created a necro, i made a tanky necro i made recently a condition damage necro and it is a blast totally,im not doing any thief because i hate them they are super broken if you know what you are doing with them with all of this broken stealth mechanics and ubber burst from stealth.
But yeah pretty much warrior sucks on this game.
This is exactly what separates the excellent and the inexperienced. Those of us who have stuck it out as warriors and learned counters to the most powerful builds out there. Running berserker’s is the worst possible decision you can make, in my honest opinion. You hear about the lack of warrior sustain everywhere you look in these foul and putrid forums for warriors, yet all of them run berserker gear. Tell me, which class can run full berserker gear and last more than 1 minute in any fight without running away to reset the fight? Figure out what works for YOU. I personally run apothecary gear for the condition damage and heavy healing, as well as the high toughness to avoid burst. Shout heals allow for a MUCH higher EHP.
Find what works, use it to your advantage, master it. That’s what I can tell you. Warriors DO NOT suck in tPvP, and you’ll find that if you put enough time into mastering the class rather than learning to play it, you’ll seldom lose.

Generalizing and dismissing everyone who has an opinion contrary to your own is never a smart thing to do and reflects extremely poorly on you.
For one I am one of these long term warriors and I obviously CAN attain some measure of success otherwise I would have rerolled ages ago, I don’t use berserker gear, and yet I’m still of the opinion that warrior is the worst-off class.
For two op is talking about s/tpvp which is a completely different game from wvw, for example apothecary gear doesn’t exist in any form there.
And for three mesmers can run zerker gear perfectly fine due to all their invulnerability and stealth.

Not sure if…
Anyhow, I tried to play a bleed warrior for a long time and it always only worked against other warriors and the occational Mesmer. The amount of condtion removal on most other classes completely negate your damage in a 1v1. Not to mention that sword sword has very few defensive capabilities (1 block) and longbow only has 1 blind and pin down. What is your general experience in a 1v1 or 1v2. I hope you’re actually roaming and not just zerging..

We are talking about pvp here not wvw, go and try a warrior in pvp and come with a valid oppinion, i said pretty clear i run my warrior pretty tanky, but i will put it clear to you because it seems you can not understand, i use a soldier amulet, its the most tanky you can go, and i have traits in tactics and defense too 20/20 so as you can see im not glass cannon and still cant survive enought, and guess what?, i can go glass cannon with my mesmer and can survive better than with my warrior so, your arguments are invalid sorry.

Same guy who tells the “glorious” story (as he states it) about how he was running in wvw and casted a mass invis and a zerg of 40+ behind them just ran off a cliff into their demise, as if mass invis worked on more targets than a handful….
Some people just talk, to talk.

What?… so he uses mass invis on himself and you’re gonna call him out saying mass invis has a target cap? last i check it wasn’t less than one…
At least when 1v1 is concerned, glassier builds tend to be more effective as they can output alot more damage and that quick spike and burst is usually what you will need to be some of the harder classes like Mesmers, Necros, etc who tend to kill you over time if you let the fight drag on, or pretty quickly, either way.
Although it is unfortunate, you kind of have to rely on your stances (i.e: Endure Pain, Balanced Stances, weapon blocks, etc) to help you survive and your own CC and mobility.
This is because even going a shout heal build, Warriors cannot sustain + deal enough damage at the same time, as opposed to a class like a Guardian or a Ranger or an Ele.
The biggest thing Warriors have over all classes is the ability to chain hard CC.

His zerg of about 30+ was running from their zerg of about 40+ or 50, something much larger… and he casted mass invis and watched as the “entire” opposing zerg fell to their death.

Did he mean veil?
Wow. I can’t believe that one post created so much discourse. Kryptonite exaggerates a bit, and I clearly stated that we had at most, 30 players. I shouted in TS to mass invis and from what I’m guessing several mesmers used it, not just one. About half of the TC zerg followed their commander through us off the cliff and we cleaned up the rest. I don’t see how hard it is to believe.
Secondly, I am talking about PvP. I say apothecary gear because the Shaman amulet in PvP has apothecary stats (toughness, not vitality like every other piece of shaman gear has). I stated my own opinion and told you all how tired I was of people complaining about warriors on the forums, and to go learn the class. Sustain doesn’t mean high health, Fenrir. A soldier’s amulet is just a buffer. You won’t ever reach max health 1 minute or longer into a fight, because your enemy can slowly whittle you down, and that health and toughness buffer won’t last. Warriors have the highest diminishing returns on vitality (if you don’t know what stat DR is, go away.), which means we don’t benefit from it because, as I stated before, it’s merely a buffer. The CC warrior does have its role in PvP, but it isn’t meant to sustain. You should know that being so “pro.”
I was in the last SOAC tournament and took 1st in a WPvP duel tournament prior to the SOAC tourny on the same day. I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about, but you know everything. You play PvP after all, so you must know everything about the class with no background in theorycrafting for PRX and TL and you weren’t the PvP class lead for Team Legacy while it lasted. If you’d like to criticize my posts based on personal opinion, go ahead. If you don’t believe me, go ahead. Don’t soil my good name, though. Keep your entitled forum warrior opinions about “weakest class” and “I don’t understand why I lose” to yourselves.
Thank you.

Throwing your fake/non important credentials at us is irrelevant to the state of the class, and the class its the worse right now in pvp.
OP you’ll get better. I win some, loose some, and am still trying to figure out the nuances of each class. Though its sad to admit I kinda get excited when its another warrior. Play around with builds you might find one that works for you. I’m using mace/shield-gs but will try out a mace/shield-lb later.
Unfortunately anet has yet to really figure out how warriors can deal with the condition meta and the fact that many classes have too many escape mechanisms (blinks, stealth etc) which we as a melee class lack. I feel unless you’ve really put in some hours on warrior its difficult to understand how it sucks to have to be in 130 range for most of your high burst skills while other classes can kite you to death.
But I also think the warrior is the most balanced class in the game. No “OMG I win!” button or get out of jail free cards. When we spec for deeps, we are exposed defensively. When we spec for defence, we cannot kill anything. Finding a sweet spot is much more important on warrior IMO than it is on say, ele, which has so many ways for you to mitigate dmg from mistakes you make. Which is why you see eles etc as zerg divers and warriors as zerg surfers.

I never said that warriors aren’t the weakest class in PvP right now. With that, I would completely agree. I did, however say that we don’t SUCK. If you think that the balance issue is so far out of order 10 months into the game that warriors absolutely cannot win against all but a couple classes including itself, you’re very wrong. In this balance challenge that ArenaNet’s stuck in, they try to maintain just that: balance. There isn’t a significant difference in the balance of the warrior compared to other classes, especially since this last patch which was a huge buff to us. Just because we lose out on maximum DPS by not having Heightened Focus and Berserker’s Power readily available in the adept tiers doesn’t mean that our entire class was nerfed, and people need to realize that. Only a very specific set of pure DPS builds were nerfed, and they weren’t all that great in the PvP scene in the first place.
I told you in my first post without attitude or spite, which is all you’ve given me, to try things that work for you if you’re losing constantly. Obviously it isn’t working. If you’re so dead-set on being the bane of these forums and swearing to high heaven that warriors absolutely cannot win against 90% of all other classes, go somewhere else. We don’t need your negativity in this subforum full of it already.

All wall of text to say this:
“We are the weakest class of pvp i agree, but we are not!!! ,and dont be negative about it!!!!”
I guess is to much for ask for coherence but you are clearly a fanboy of this game.
Well I never wanted to believe that all this whining was true. However, I learned was wrong. My guildies was right when they told me that warrior are the worst sPvP class.
Here is my personal experience with the warrior. The past few weeks, I been PvPing and theory-crafting with my warrior. I kept losing 1 vs 1 duels with my guildies(unless they are warriors), and was a shamed during tPvP, that I could not hold my weight. I noticed by myself(1 vs 1) there was 92% chance i will lose(loses to win, Ratio) unless I was with my teammates. Against skilled players(pros), it was better for me to leave otherwise i would hold my team down because they were kind to rez me(it got them killed). The day we lost 3(or 4) matches in a row was the day I stop playing warrior and started playing ranger. The next time we TPvP we won 4 matches in a row, and since that day we won more then we lost(nearly all). This is depressing for me and a eye opener that you guys might be right when you say warrior are terrible at PvP.
For those who are good with warriors, think about this.
The matches/duels that you won,
Was it because there was an other person with you?
was it because they(enemy) screw up?
because you were attacking form the sidelines and/or no one focus on you?The reasons above are the reasons on why I won matches on my warrior which happen too few.
if you have any tips/build that won’t require the above happening then please tell me because I am warrior lover and would like to keep playing it without hurting my teammates.
btw I play at night when most skilled players play.(to my experience at-least.)
I’ll motivate you with this:
What’s the difference between a warrior and an hero?
Even when all hope is lost, warriors will go on fighting.
