I’ve been playing since launch.

The problem is not the nerf.

The problem is the nerfs will continue to happen because people cannot accept that “good” and “warrior” can exist in the same sentence, and every domination by a warrior is not due to skill, but due to [ insert intrinsic class mechanic here] that is such a large crutch that the losing player would not have done any better if the warrior controller was a monkey; even though we have to gear specifically just to stay alive now, and are generally at a huge disadvantage against a condition-specced anything.

I’m fine with the adrenaline change. it won’t stop the qq though. bad players that encounter warrior will just move on to [mobility/armor/melandru/condiclear/bleeds/hammer/health/ire] OP until the class is just as sandbag as it was at launch.

So far, I’ve wrekted eles, every single warrior i’ve come across, rangers + their almighty lb, 2 necros at once, thieves. Haven’t seen many guardians and a PU mesmer eventually chipped my hp away on point fight after i decapped point + capped it and held for 20seconds. Overall still good, but tons of bads in sPvP atm. Also nerf PU mesmer pls, torment never goes away

Welcome to the forums, this is the standard comeback to anyone who suggests something is either over powered or over nerfed. L2PNUB mentality is pretty awful, the worst part is they don’t seem the understand the difference between mechanics that are weak and those that are just clumsy.

The adren nerf makes many warrior mechanics extremely clumsy due to the fact that they didn’t adjust skills to compensate for the ripples the main adren decay change would have on them.

So please to everyone who is saying “dis gud chainj cus I da bst nuthin stahp meh dattebayo evry1 else is a nub if dey dunt agrey” please please take a look at the general flow of warriors now and realize the issue isn’t so much that we were nerfed it’s that the constant adren decay completely messes with how a ton of skills are supposed to function. And without updating those to compensate for the new constant uphill battle to generate adrenaline warriors feel incredibly clumsy.

I agree. Putting aside the obvious mechanical nerfs, the adrenaline decay is a massive QoL (quality of life) nerf.

I can hardly even use my adrenal skills now, in regular PvE mob fights. By the time I loot and run to the next mob, I’ve lost most, if not all, of my adrenaline. Since it’s just open world PvE, it’s not like burst skills are required by any means, but it feels REALLY crappy, hence why I label it a QoL nerf.

It doesn’t make warriors FUN.

And of course, in WvW, decay is a HUGE nerf, geez.

Having mes and thief disengage and flee, waiting for their cooldowns to come back up and health to recharge, meanwhile im losing all my saved up adrenaline while DESPERATELY trying to catch up to them as fast as I can?! What the hell!!

it’s not about god mode or not, it’s about the fact that a game mechanic that becomes stressful to players is bad design and bad for the game.

nerfing numbers is ok, tweaking cds and stuff is ok, making it so players need to stress over their tiny resource bar running out if they ever relax for a moment is not.

The only thing I feared was that in group fights I’d be less mobile and tanky. And it happened. In group fights last night, especially with that amounnt of rangers, it felt like playing warrior back in 2012 a bit. No sustain.

In solo though I have no problem at all with the change. I changed my build, and it’s doing real good. The changes does that 1. I can’t open with burst and 2. I can’t swap to next weapon if I miss my first burst, to land CI.

Those changes are good. In groupfights though I had a real hard time yesterday. But I’d rather be an underdog than OP. The biggest nerf to warriors seems to be the buffing of the rangers though :P

And this kids is how you tell that someone doesn’t play a warrior. They say things like this showing a clear lack of understanding of the different between a nerf" to skills and a change that makes just playing your class AT ALL difficult.

So for those (like this guy) who think that warriors are complaining just because we’ve gotten a “slight nerf” it’s not that, it’s that the adrenaline change makes the class feel awkward and clumsy and not function at all how it should. Sure warriors could have used a little tuning I would have adapted and been okay with that but what we got was being hacked off at the knee’s and told we’re still able to run around. Oh and trust me if a change like what’s happened to warriors happened to your class you’d be just as frustrated.

The main thing that still blows me away is how haphazard all this feels, it takes about 2 seconds of play in either PvE or especially in any form of PvP to feel how exploitable and bad these changes are. I can’t believe the Development team at ArenaNet would be okay with this, so it’s led me to believe that either; there’s next to no oversight and one inexperienced Dev was tasked with these changes and no one else questioned them or there were multiple Devs who decided on these changes on a white board and never bothered to test them in a practical game environment at all. And yes as I said, if you’d play warrior you understand the issues with this adren change are actually that apparent.

Oh and for the record, also if you thought warriors were “god mode” you’re doing something wrong.

I started using Greatsword in pvp. It’s barely viable.

I don’t mind struggling to use it, for now.

As a warrior since beta I think that the adrenaline change was absolutely necessary. It was far too easy to carry your adrenaline with you and start the next fight with full adrenaline.

@Azure The Heartless I started using greatsword in pvp a week ago and it’s pretty viable. I logged in today and I didn’t see much change in terms of damage dealt.
In fact I don’t even think they nerfed us.

You do realize this thread was created post patch right? This patch was only a nerf to warriors who were not playing the class correctly to begin with. Passive adrenaline, stationary 100 blades was a gimmick from the start.

The better warriors pre-patch are even better post patch.

adrenaline bar is kind of tiny, it was just meant from a visual perspective. (adrenaline is a type of resource, just as hp and endurance are).

guys, really, it’s not OP/UP/l2p, it’s BAD DESIGN.

i’m not arguing war adrenaline bar makes it too weak/too strong, it’s just frustrating to players leaving combat for 2 seconds and having adrenaline compeltely empty, it’s game breaking in every mode not just your precious pvp.

it’s gamebreaking even to a player that bought gw2 yesterday and is trying to figure what is this adrenaline thing we have and why does he never have any to hit a mob with.

want to tweak adrenaline? ok fine, please just do it in a way that doesn’t make us feel frustrated after every fight.

just imagine your HP bar would deplete when out of combat: assume for a moment the game was balanced around having to always find a fight fast or die, would it be OP/UP/l2p? no, it would be kittening stressful and i’d stop playing tomorrow.

edit: an example of possible tweak could have been adrenaline needing 45 strikes instaed of 30, big nerf but not frustrating as this one is.

I think its a good thing too that adrenaline goes on a misssed burst. The losing adrenaline out of combat is a bit to quick compared to that on gw1 but its just a minor inconvenience really.

I don’t really notice much difference with the signet of rage too. Brawlers recovery is pretty nice though.

Still using the same build which is sw/sh and hammer or lb

I don’t pvp though I just do wvw so I dunno what it is like in pvp.

Easy explanation, warriors essentially gained a new burst ability, which now hits AOE (vs single target previously), which grants bonus damage to targets under 50% which effectively gives a new cleave burst finisher.

What you have to understand that the so called “Meta builds” pre patch were just gimmicks. It was not how warriors were intended to be played. Yes, certain builds got nerfed because of Adrenaline, but I reiterate that this was how warriors were intended to be played.

Its a much better design and increases the skill cap and reward for a good warrior by a significant amount. This is why I conclude that the better warriors pre-patch are even better now.

I’m personally just comparing my performance now with how it was before patch. I don’t think that’s a viable reason for calling an entire collective dumb. Though I agree that it leads nowhere until someone has actually got numbers.

Showing a parallel between a mechanic that has been around for a while and a mechanic and how a mechanic has been changed to work is quite pertinent to warrior.

Your comment is like saying to someone “you could go talk about small ponies” when they say “that great dane is as big as a small pony”.

Also, I play both and am just laying out the facts. If you don’t like it, try to use some facts. Opinions have little value … especially so soon after a patch.

That makes no sense. “It’s not how warrior was meant to played”. Then why did they make those skills behave that way in the first place?

You’re trying to shoehorn some logic into balance changes that were made over the last 2 years with your understanding of how the changes were made in the most recent patch and that doesn’t work.

I understand we got a new burst skill but it’s hardly going to make the “better warriors better”. Especially considering it’s on a sub-optimal pvp weapon that doesn’t offer any tools to help land the burst.

Like I said before, at best the good warriors are going to be on par with what we had before. No one is getting stronger.

That being said, I haven’t heard much about any of the new runes so maybe that might help make some things stronger, but again, not so much stronger than they were before.

And yes, the skill ceiling for warrior was raised quite a bit to be comparable to where we were before. Why wasn’t the skill floor being raised for other classes at the same time?

- Burst skills were made to be used and combined with other weapon sets.

Let’s not bring other classes into this discussion. Bad warriors were rewarded for carrying a bow, playing a bunker, and being bad. That’s going to change this meta..
