My warrior has aggro pheromones
What has been confirmed is that being close to an enemy makes it likely that they will attack you; so if you’re playing a melee warrior you’ll get aggro more often than say a range 1200 Staff Ele.
Some observations also indicate that some foes are more likely to attack targets with low HPs and armor while other attack targets with high HPs and armor; afaik this hasn’t been proven, though.
Also it may be your delusion; humans remember unfavorable events better than favorable ones, so it may be that you clearly remember the one boss fight it was attacking you all the time but not the boss fight it didn’t even looked at you once.
@desertrose he said hes using a rifle.
i have this issue too, i out aggro my guild’s guardian all the time. whats your armor rating, btw? supposedly your total armor factors into aggro calculation as well

I often switch to rifle in dungeons because I too am an agro magnet.
Until recently I was with a group that had full exotics like me. Presumably also the propper trait specs. So the dmg the other members were doing was pretty much on par with mine. The result… aggro was spread evenly across the group.
All I can make out of this is, person that attacks first gets aggro.
“You do more dmg than other people – you get aggro”
My warrior is awesome I just love using him. I think tho they are a little op and need some tweaking. I am fine with the aggro I just pay attention.

I have gotten aggro on things i haven’t touched at all. For me aggro is completely random and just randomly picks someone to go after no matter what.
Range has never made a difference for me, i have seen mobs run past several people who are all attacking him to go after someone who hasn’t touched him. I have seen mobs jump around between people. So ya, for me, aggro is completely random.
I have done over 30 TA explore runs and every time i do the Forward up path the mes always targets me (my worrior)! I have even just run in from having to re-spawn and before i’m in the combat zone she will teleport to me and place her aoe on me. Its really helpful since i can alway pull the aoe away from my team but just once i would not like to have to kite her 24/7

2800 or so.

I usually play with my friend’s ranger. He usually starts the fights with his longbow. Also, he’s in full berserker’s gear, mostly exotics, so he does more DPS than me. However the enemies that would give him the most problems ignore him and always go for me, in particular the melee enemies and bosses.

From what I can tell, mobs have different behaviors, not a single aggro mechanic.
Call me on this, but I could swear some enemies tend to look after the weakest link, the one with lower health/armor, or near death, while other seem to stick to enemies who have a larger survival pool.
Biggest example: AC, Deatha’s path.
While fixing the mortars, on my warrior, the enemy warriors seem to favor going after me or a guardian (not saying the exclusively stick to us, but its a tendency).
While playing my engineer, mesmers and archers seem to focus on me all the time, yet, I never see warriors zerging me like i do when I’m on my warrior.
Its kind of weird, but when you think about this, the skill set they sport seem to be complimentary to their targets. Warriors have self heal and annoying stun. Mesmers reflect ranged attacks…
Further along, how aggro behavior seems to differ. Take the Elite Abomination at the end of Plix’s chain quest. He seems to just mark someone and follow until that person is dead. I’ve even had moments where I went invisible due to a thief’s shelter, and as soon I came back, he kept chasing me again. And I was on my engineer! I remember this one time cuz i had to kite him for the whole event, but again, I was lvl 76…
Other different behavior I witnessed, lets say you come across an idle player. You attack attack a couple moas and run thru the idle player. As the moas “see him” right of front of em, they just decide to murderize him, whom did not attack em at all. Not sure moas are a good example since they are passive, but say instead of moas they were raptors, or wargs…
So, I like to think the aggro mechanic is different, there are patterns sure, but they are different for each type of enemy, and more “natural” than aggro tables…
