uh…. I use hammer/gs currently and really feel hammer is in a good spot.
Hammer is not bad in PvP. In pve it is rather week because a lot of stuff cannot be stunned. I did switch from a power hammer warrior to a condi warrior in wvw though because it is a stronger roamer now because of hammer damage nerfs. Can’t kill anyone good because damage is to low. Hammer stun still lows good in any team fights though.
Hammer CC is pretty good. I always find it kinda clunky to fight with sometimes though vs mobile opponents. And the dammage isn’t that good anymore. Way to many nerfs to hammer F1 and trait make it kinda wet noodleish.
For 1v1s and small fights I much prefer the mace shield combo as I find the single target CC to be a lot more reliable and the wind up on the mace stun isn’t nearly as long as the hammer stun. And is certainly more reliable to bait out a stun break with a shield stun then folow up with a mace stun. Damage Mitigation is much better too.

The only place you find hammer warriors are in WvW/PvP. Its terrible in PvE since the CC is useless against defiance. If you are a WvW/PvP player the hammer is still a must have. It just got nerfed again with everyone complaining about it so I don’t see it ever getting buffed.
Lol @ the OP wanting a three second stun every ~10ish seconds from hammer burst. The thing’s good enough in PvP/WvW already, and no amount of buffing will make a control weapon optimal in PvE.
I’m generally fine with hammer in PvE. It’s great for mangling groups and the CC is solid for WvW/PvP.
What I find unforgivable is the Adept trait, and the general lack of trait support. Especially since the measly 25% damage boost for a “disabled” target got nerfed. Stuns are common for it, but the additional wind-up on a hammer usually means you get one hit off before the target starts moving again.
In comparison to the equivalent Greatsword trait (might on crit, geez that’s fantastic!), shoddy bonus damage that can’t even be applied against Defiant bosses is just … bad.
I’d much rather get a bonus when one of my Disable skills is negated by Block/Immune/Stability. A nonstacking 5% damage boost for 5 seconds wouldn’t be terrible at all. Probably on a shortish cooldown (10 seconds).
Finding additional excuses to grant Might just feels silly, and a unique buff (there’s some that have specific trait symbols) would synergize with other power boosting and Might effects from other players.
