I just reached lvl 80 on my Warrior and want to start doing fractals. I want a dps build with some survivability.
Can anyone recommend a good build, if possible one with Greatsword?

Shout healing with DPS gear is complete garbage.
You’re basically trading a lot of DPS for very poor 1.2k heals every 20s that take all your utility slots.
That build is GW1 Wammo all over again, looks like people can’t get enough of trying to turn Warriors into poor dmg+poor support paladin wannabees.

Go with a max DPS+offensive support build imo.
I suggest a 20/20/0/10/20 like this.
With this build you have extreme DPS and give 370 power to every member in your team permanently.
Or go with a real support build with cleric gear if you want to support, best be excellent at something than weak at everything.

i use this for wvw and pve, with greatsword and rifle and hammer, switch weapon and SOR depends on how hard the fractal is.

P/T/V armor soldier rune, ruby trinkets.

In fotm, more important thing is to know how to run it, i use to run shout heal build, but 4k heal every 20 seconds doesnt help much on some teammates who doesnt know how to run certain fractal, or doesnt bother to spend 150 tokens to get 10 AR. Also, a mango pie can easily cover up the heal.

Edit: sitting at 3100-ish armor, 24k-ish HP, 3100-ish attack, ~30% crit chance with no buff.

If you want tank, good DPS, and support all at once:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNBHhRakzJ5NGS7hJOAYUUUQKFtdX6RYstGA

Mix knight and berserker gear to your liking. (I usually run full berserkers + ruby orbs most of the time, knights gear in the inventory to switch for some situations)

Good toughness (with Knights gear), decent vitality level, and very decent DPS + crit damage with axe, permanent swiftness, fury, and might.

Warhorn = AOE change conditions into boon + very fast refresh rate (16 sec for each) on both warhorn skills = conditions are nearly nonexistent. Applying weakness to enemies = you can take more hits.

Balanced stance = lasts 10 sec with Tactic’s 30% boon duration.

Banner adds critical hit chance and damage, and its AOE has much larger area than shout skills and it heals for about 11~12k hp total over time (and this is without clerics gear), which is very useful for long boss fights.

If you ever go down, sweet revenge yourself back into fight. No need for your ally to die trying to rez you. (note: some mobs don’t count towards sweet revenge)

What gear do you use for the dps build, full berserker or some survivability aswell? And isnt it important to have something that removes conditions?

imo full dps is the way to go. i run gs/rifle full zerker with dps traits, runes, sigils at 48 daily constantly.

i’ve run alot of fractals and this is definately the most help to your group, being able to kill dredge, bosses, ice eles etc fast helps the most.

problem is if you’re learning you can die alot and be a burden to you’re group, or if the rest of the party isn’t up to par dps wise you’ll take agro alot.

imo go full dps with pwr/prec/toughness gear/jewelry for learning, you can slot in mending, dolyak, fgj, and last slot for bolas/frenzy/sig of your choice, whithout dying too much.

but when you’re pro you go full dps. we don’t get barriers or anything, so trying to play a tank just diminishes your role as top dps.

best fractal groups are mes/war/war/guard/guard

Agreed with most, except a few key parts and/or adding a few things…

1. If you’re learning… and even if you are “pro”… getting some in defense trait isn’t that bad. While I prefer ranged, I also run a 20/25/0/15/10 which I think is awesome. Sure you can add in a bit of DPS by taking out of the defense trait, but I just find it to be the most effective use of trait.

2. Even when you are pro, there are times you should not use full berserker (specifically when you are running with a noob pub party). In these cases, it is better to get some knight’s in there… or, you can just avoid partying with noobs (although for the community, it would be better to play with them and help them learn).

I personally switch to full knight which is invaluable. When the battle goes wrong (not if, when) it gives you a higher chance to escape and slowly res your guys up… lol

As far as I know… No.
It’s a pretty good build overall, but it relies heavily on the runes.
From what I’ve been hearing, ascended accessories cannot hold runes?
I haven’t spent any laurels to get any (has anyone?) so can’t confirm.

If you can, however, get those monk, water, etc. runes on… then it’s good

there is no specific build for fractals
i run an 0/20/30/0/20 in fractals and i got minimal deaths up to lvl 20 , depending on my party: 85% of times 0 deaths, 2-3 times downed in 4 maps, there are situations when i got 1-3 full deaths if i got too many magic find party mates.
You must know mobs mechanism and when to switch utility’s.
For example :
Swap fractal : start with bull charge /balanced stance – signet of rage for wisp. change to FGJ / banner of discipline +endure pain /frenzy for champion
colosus *- use trow bolas to imobilize champion , signet of stamina to cure conditions. he apply like 4 conditions at once.
*dredge * – a must – fgj
situational fear me /stomp for mob waves
trow bolas vs last champion to hold him under lava.
*ravaging asura
– balanced stance / signet of dolyak for stability vs harpy (after lvl 10)
Volcanic – vs last champion – use healing signet to regenerate constant hp , use frenzy to burst the shield (recomanded omnomberry ghost /pie)

So, I may be missing something, and if so, please point it out, but not sure how you reach 370 Power being the bonus to allies. I see:

  • 105 Power from FGJ
  • 70 Power from Empower Allies
  • 90 Power from Banner

Total being 265 Power. Am I missing something?

I’m really liking my 20/25/0/0/25 build. With Knight’s Armor (still working on it), and Cavalier’s jewelery, and Berserker weapons.

Utilities are: Healing Surge, FGJ, SIO, Endure Pain, Signet of Rage (sometimes Warbanner)

Ruby orbs on armor/jewelery. Sigil of Energy on my Hammer, Sigil of Generosity on my Greatsword.

High damage, good defense, some control. I try to build up lots of might with my Greatsword then change to Hammer and use 4>5>2 for a couple 3-4.5K crits and go back to Greatsword

there is no such thing as ascended armor and runes only go in armor sigils in weapons jewels in assc and infusions in ascended trinkets

Ah okay, then is the Sonic Boon build good for Fractals?
Would you say it’s better than a 20/25/15/0/10 GS/Rifle?
