Let me start off by saying that I’ve rarely (if ever) play a heavy armor type of character in any RPG. For the most part, I’ve always played as spellcasters or rangers/rogues (I have a maxed out elementalist and thief).

This brings me to my latest problem: playing as a warrior. I decided that I would try to play a warrior for the first time and as some may have guessed, failed pretty badly.

My issues are either I’m not killing things fast enough or I die quickly and am unable to kill something (quickly) while downed in order to rally.

My character’s current level is 17 and has precision gear with dual axes and a rifle.

Any general or specific advice to help a perplexed player out?

Did you finish your starter zone and immediately move on to the 15+ area? If so, the problem is that you’re level 17. I had it happen with every single class. Basically, there’s just not enough content in that level range to keep you caught up with the difficulty of the zone. Do some crafting or head to a different starter zone to pad your level a bit.

If you’re still in the starter zones, I’m not sure what to tell you. A low-level warrior is a cakewalk compared to elementalist. What are you dying to, exactly?

If your going for a cannon warrior, I’d say play like your thief. Probably have the same defense. Regen signet is good at lower levels.

Other than that you just have to know the mobs ai, know when to dodge, etc.
Also if your in Snowden drifts, watch out for Icebrood wolves. They can be annoying.

Yes, I’m currently in the level 15-25 area above plains of ashford. I just finished finding the southern viewpoint where there is a veteran devourer nearby.

Aside from location, an issue I have with playing my warrior as a thief is that I still can’t dodge as much since thieves can potentially dodge 4 times in quick succession when traited properly.

best advise i can give is to go to the other starting zones, pick up the skill points and level a bit.

it seemed to me at least that my warrior had a slow progression in power up until he hit lv80. then he jumped up in everything and became godlike unkillable.

precision is fun, but from what i’ve heard precision is for rifle, axe, greatsword users. so while i know that everyone and their cousin runs a greatsword warrior, give it a try. axe and shield is also really good, great combo of stuns leaps and spike damage.
