Need help picking a GOOD Greatsword build?
Hey everyone, I just needed some help with picking a build. I’ve seen posts about doing something with points in defense because its just better for surviving, then some will argue against it, blah blah. I want to know what’s a good build for having good DPS with a greatsword, then the other weapon set I don’t know what I’d want or need. I’d want it to make me be able to tank possibly? What should I use for that and what should the build be to do this, and the type of gear I should be using? This is for PvE by the way.
Warriors cant tank. No mater what build and weapon they use. They don’t have protection or the healing abilities of the guardian. If your asking for a gs build that can tank the answer is there is not one. If you just want a GS build that can do good damage with a more survivability. Only put 10 in strength and put 25 in arms. Then you have 35 points left to play with. Either put the 30 in tactics so you can do healing shouts. or put them in defense. I would do 10/25/25/0/10 or something.

I went with a 10/20/0/30/10 build with healing shouts and Soldier runes for condition removal on shouts. No complaints about damage, and the extra heals and condition removals have been pretty slick (in addition to the might, fury, and vulnerability, obviously).
Certainly not tanky with ‘zerker gear, but I’m pretty sure you’re never going to able to face-tank as a warrior anyway. A mix of Knight and Valk gear would certainly up survivability, however.

go full zerk, pair with only other zerk wars/1mesmer. no need to tank or dodge again. or associate with those “other” classes
All you need to do is combine Valk and berserk gear, then learn to dodge appropriately and boom you are now a tank. If you find yourself lacking survivalbility get some PVT pieces from temples or craft them with the drops from the Flame and frost dungeon. Healing banners are far more useful than healing shouts in dungeons imo. Even if placing FGJ in one of your slots along 2 banners can do the trick. All in all is up to you, but since this game doesn’t have any tanks, you just need to dodge.

I wouldn’t use valk gear, Warriors dont need more HP especially with 30 in tactics, I would do cavaliers gear instead pow/tough/crit.
