Hi Everyone,
I am very new to this game, i am just after a bit of advice really as when i scan through the forum i get lost with all the game talk that i don’t yet really understand so here goes:

I am playing as a warrior, can anyone explain the following:
1. What are the different builds that people talk of… how do i see these and work on them/unlock them?
2. Do you have an armor crafting level in GW2 like other games or can you craft any armor so long as you have the required materials?
3.(I know i really am a long way from this but… can Ascended armor be purchased from the TP or does this have to be crafted? i would like to know this for future reference… if anyone wants to show/tell em anything that would be great.

Thank you

Hi ,and welcome to the game.

1) Some builds can be found on youtube, others on reddits and others here on this forum. For some “meta super optimal 110% cookie cutter builds” try going to
http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

Note that metabattle might not have all kinds of builds that your class offers you to play…cause this is “meta”.

Some noticeable builds for a warrior are :
Shout warriors, banner warriors, phalanx strength warriors, pure zerk warriors, bleed /condition stacking warriors. (among other pvp /wvw related builds)

2) You can only have 2 crafting professions active at any time, and it can be any profession you wish to be. You can switch them to another crafting profession as much as you like (for a small fee) . Eventually you may want to lvl up ALL craftings to lvl 400-500. Armorsmith is the crafting profession for heavy armor (warriors use those)

3)Ascended gear is the highest tier of gear in the game. You can obtain ascended accessories in the laurel shop, the wvw laurel shop (costs less laurels but also uses wvw badges) as well as fractal tokens and fractal drops
As for armor and weapon you must craft them.
In order to craft them however you need to bring your appropriate crafting profession up to 500 (500 is max) and then start crafting ascended materials (such as bolt of damask, deldrimor steel ect).

Note that while you can craft those multiple times a day, each 1 of them have a part that allows you to craft it only once per day.

For example, youll need 20-30 days to craft a full ascended set of armor. Another option is to buy the deldrimor steel and damask off the Trade Post…but it will cost you double if not triple amount of gold youd normally spend on crafting them your self once per day.

Also note that ascended gear recipes cost laurels as well, and please pay attention to which you buy as there are a lot of different kinds of stats with different names. You wouldnt want to buy 1 zerker recipe, 2 soldiers and 3 dire recipies…unless thats the combination you wish to go for.

Also note that Exotic gear is just as good, ascended stats only gives off a minor amount of stat boost….but its a goal worth going for if you want to have that "my character is now complete " feeling

1.) Vukorep cover some on that but basically some builds are specific for dungeons/pve, zerg support and roaming

2.) yes we do, here’s some more info http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crafting

3.) also all legendary weapons and all ascended armor, weapons and trinkets are account bound meaning that they can be use with another character that you create

btw crafting ascended armor is too expensive compare to buying exotic armor just for the minor stat bonus and account bound feature

double or triple the cost to buy lol? At most it’s 33% more expensive than buying mats and crafting but usually around the 20% mark.
