Sup guys I was wondering if you guys have some “noob” friendly warrior builds for WvWvW including specific traits, weapons, armour, gear, sigils and runes.

I’m looking for mostly off tank builds or full tank builds that are hammer, greatsword and axe/warhorn based. I’ve been advised to just go full soldier on pretty much everything and run with groups of 15 or more and just go balls deep with zero cares and then work on the finer points at a later date.

I’m mostly interested in what runes and sigils I should use and why.

!!!! YOU’RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR !!!!

Hi,

Your choice of using hammer, greatsword and axe means that you want a direct-damage build, not a condition build. Direct-damage builds require significant investment in attack stats (namely power, precision and critical damage), so you’ll have to trade-off tankiness for attack.

The optimal tankiness level you’re looking for depends on you skills. The more skilled / familiar with the build, the less tankiness. Going full PVT would make you very tanky, but you’d make no damage at all, so I would not recommend it, unless you’re in a special situation (like a commander who does not make damage, but calls for damage on its position).

Basically, I’d say that 3.1k armor, 3.1k attack, 40% critical chance and 50% critical damage are base figures you should aim over with a direct damage build (using exotic gear). You can then adjust the stats depending on what you want to favor.

A standard example, using hammer, axe and warhorn:

The traited warhorn gives you good mobility (speed, vigor, dispel of crippling conditions), correct condition removal and boon-providing. This means you can afford to somehow reduce your investment in mobility and condition management, in favor of more offensive features.

For offensive runes, consider using Hoelbrak: you’ll gain power, favor might, and still have a good condition reduction. For defensive runes, consider Melandru: toughness, and even more condition reduction.

For sigils, consider using the sigil of battle, in order to get might each time you switch weapon, and the sigil of hydromancy, in order to slow down opponents (as you’ll be in melee).

HTH.
