I just started warrior, and I like double axe the most, it has a fast attack, and the 5th ability is really nice. In fact I knew about it because it annihilated people when I used steal as a thief on other players. But everyone I see uses great sword, or sword shield. FYI: I’m only talking about melee weapons, for my long range I’m definitely using a bow(Hate rifles) Can someone tell me what types of weapons do good DPS? When I used the axe, with the normal attack I could take down enemies faster, but a great sword had better DPS with some of its other skills, it’s just that I can’t bear using a slow weapon.. I also liked the sword on main hand, because the second ability can be useful for travelling and final stab deals some nice damage.

Greatsword’s autoattack is slow but it completely makes up for that with 100b and whirlwind. Axe offhand is terrible because its two attacks deal worse damage than the autoattack does.

Sword mainhand is good for mobility but if you’re trying to compare DPS, it’s a lot worse than axe is.

I’m guessing you’re talking about PvP or WvW mostly but you mentioned DPS, so I’ll show you a video of mine that demonstrates a good weaponset and a nice rotation for it.

Interesting, I always thought that axe offhand was amazing, because of the aoe damage I can deal.

Offhand Axe can be good for the skill 4 that give you fury (and a good damage) and the skill 5 that don’t deal the damage of autoattack (but in spvp it’s been powered up) but hit 15 times, granting you all the Adrenaline you want and it’s a AoE attack with combo finisher, that always can be good.
I have try offAxe in spvp and it work, expecially because no one know how to fight, and the enemy flee when see you roll around wirling XD
And the damage is really good. In spvp with a berserker build skill 5 power is 4k AoE with mobility.

Then, for pve the best weapons can be GS + Axe/Mace, then in spvp you need LB + Hammer/AxeShield(or offaxe if you want to try) or other weapons based on your build. Sword/Warhorn for shouting healing spec (actually used not only in www but also in spvp, but i don’t know why), sword/sword for condition damage, mace/mace(or shield) for bunker or particular condition build that focus on Confusion by interrupt the enemy skills. Or someone use Greatsword in spvp for 100B, using Bolas or Rush to hold the enemy in place while they hit with GS, but at the second time you see the warrior it’s easy to evade.

A side note unlike the stolen Whirling Axe, Axe #5 does not reflect projectiles last I checked.

Only ranger skill 5 Absorbs (not reflects ) projectiles.
