What do you all think?
Compared to ANYTHING you can have in your offhand, lets take a looksy:

Offhand sword grants you:
1. A ranged bleed that combos into small burst.
2.A single attack parry+cleaving bleed.

Compared to:

Shield:
1.Distance closer+stun
2.5 second immunity

Warhorn:
1.AOE swiftness
2.AOE vigor+weakness

Mace:
1.Cleaving vulnerability
2.Cone knockdown

Axe:
1.Single target burst+fury
2.AOE damage+adren build.

Now, it seems to me, that sword basically fails against anything else you can have in your offhand. Putting anything else in your offhand would give you either more damage, control, or defense.

I’ve been using dual swords for some time leveling in PVE.
The abilities you get from the offhand are just very lackluster compared to anything else.
The block is extremely “meh” (and often the parry cleave that follows will miss if the target is consistantly moving and you don’t “aim” quick enough).
The ranged bleed can be dodged very easily (pvp wise, the animation is very recognizable, like greatsword throw (“blade trail”). Furthermore, it can be difficult to pull off the “Rip” combo in time before “Impale” wears off if your target is consistantly moving and dodging.

The overall thought I have is that…it’s simply not worth it. It does not provide enough damage or control/utility to beat out its contenders.

What do you all think?

I could look past all that if it atleast had auto attack animations involving it. XD

but honestly, it is lacking.

Riposte should not grant adrenaline, but instead it needs its cooldown (and bleed duration accordingly) reduced by a great deal. Should be like 5 or 6 seconds.

The sword should generally have a rather defensive aspect. After all, parrying is one of the most defining things of the European arming sword, kitten sword (<- bast.ard sword ._.), sabre, and falchion; it is an advantage that many two-handed swords lack due to the difficult handling.

I’m lvl 80 just switched to dual sword and loving the look so far, but it seems to me that dual sword damage is kinda weak. Like you said, the off hand sword doesn’t really offer anything good except for a block. I still don’t know how bleeding work though, if I have 25 stacks and i see 50 damage a tick, how much damage is that?? And physical damage on sword is non-existent. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, any suggestions??

Yes treble that would be really nice haha OH LOOK I’M HOLDING 2 SWORDS BUT I ONLY NEED TO ATTACK WITH 1!

I like the bleed of sword 4 in sPvP, but tend to not use it in PvE since the others are so much better.

@bngn yeah, really, lol.

I switched to duals words too at 80 btw, and the dmg is definitely far less then a glass cannon, but still comparable.
However, It’s pretty much the same damage + more survivability with a shield over the 2nd sword.

That 2nd sword just does not contribute much at all, dmg or animation wise.

and because of that im gonna deem it the welfare sword. lawlawlawl

what sigil do you use for dual sword? I put sigil of earth on one which is 60% chance to bleed + trait 30% = 90% chance to bleed on crit. I figured it would be pointless to put another sigil of earth on the offhand, so what else is good to use?

I use power/vit/condition dmg gems in mine. I figure.. im stacking bleeds rapid fire anyways.. so why not just keep upping my bleed dmg?

I agree sword is very sub par when compared to the other warrior off hands but that’s because warrior off hands are all fantastic minus sword; other classes wish they had this many great off hand options it can be so hard to choose at times.

Sigil of Earth is a good sigil to use on you MH, but it doesn’t work cumulatively. You have a 60% chance to bleed on critical as well as a 33% chance, so you can technically proc two bleed stacks off of one critical. A safe (and cheaper) sigil to run on your offhand is the 5% damage one, because sigils only affect the weapon they are used on. So it increases that little bit of damage you actually do with your OH sword. Still, OH sword is sort of a crap-shoot damage wise.

Does that work or is it, crit happens, 30% chance to bleed (trait) then a second calculation for the 60% sigil? Otherwise you could have 2 sigils of earth and trait for 150% bleed chance on crit

You beat me. Are you sure they only proc of the one they are on? I was using elementalist with scepter dagger and had flame burst 30% in dagger and it was procing on scepter lighting death cannon move (air attune auto attack)
