Hey guys, here are some of the improvements you can expect to see for the October 15th release. Let us know what you think about them and we’ll take this into consideration. Some of these may not make it in for that release, but I wanted to give you guys a high level preview of what we’re working on and give you an opportunity to give us your feedback.
Trait tooltips
Traits will now have tooltips in the same way that skills do. This means that you’ll be able to see EXACTLY how long an effect lasts, what its cooldown is, etc. We want this system to be as transparent as possible for our players, so that they can make the best decisions when creating their profession builds.Skill tooltips as they pertain to traits
As traits impact a skill, we’ve also made it so that as skills are impacted by a trait, the skill’s tooltips adjust accordingly. Again, we want players to be able to see these details in their builds, so that they can build their characters exactly the way they want! We’ll be using different colors to show this so that it’s easier for players to see!Other Misc. fixes:
Tab Targeting Improvements
- Now prioritizes Champs/Legendary, then players/clones, then everything else
- Deselecting your target now resets tab selection history (aka, you’ll start tabbing through from the beginning if you deselect)
- Can now tab target if your character can see the target (Was dependent on camera before)
Floater Improvements:
When you cause condition damage, all damage of a given type (burning, bleed, poison, etc.) will be grouped into a single # with an icon, making them much easier to read. This also allows players suffering from these conditions to more easily see them, and know when they should use condition removal. Note that this is an option, so that you can disable it if you want to (and return to the old system).Better fast cast ground targeting:
We split this into 3 different options; so that players can more easily cater how ground targeting works for them.
- Double tap to cast
- Press the button to cast
- Release the button to cast

We wanted to make pets and summons more viable in PvE/WvW while making sure they didn’t become too strong in PvP.Launch will now be stun breakable
We felt it made it sense to let stun breakers also help you when you are launched, since this is consistent with how stun breakers respond to other control effects./end of post 1
Warrior
We’re looking to improve shouts so that support via shouts is more viable. This means moving Lung Capacity to Tier 1 so that you can take it along with Shrug it Off and Vigorous Shouts. The Warrior is in a pretty decent place overall right now, and sees play in many types of content, as well as in PvP/WvW.
Further down the Road
- We’re reworking the combat log to make it more easily used. This will involve help from a ton of departments, but it will help every player in the game. By providing you better combat information, you’ll be able to better make tweaks to your build, and you’ll be able to better adjust your play to deal with difficult encounters.
- We’re also looking to make conditions scale better in PvE/WvW leveling so that they’re more viable at different junctures in the level scale.
- Runes/Sigils are also something the balance team wants to improve. We’d like to see cooler effects on some of the sets, so we’ll be working towards that. They also lead to a lot of build diversity, so we want more sets to be stronger so that it gives you guys more options in your builds.
- The patch notes will be much bigger than this, but we just wanted to give you guys a little insight into what’s coming in the near future from the balance team!
- Traits. We’re always looking at traits and trying to fix the traits that don’t seem as sweet as others.

They can say war is fine but i would like to play something else than cc/condi builds. I don’t like that cc to deal damage setup..But maybe i picked wrong class?
At least in condi i don’t have to use cc.

Might stacking build. Two (hopefully) not-so-op weapons. Only cheese: healing signet and Berserker’s Stance, but I bet it would do just fine even with Surge and Signet of Stamina.
I used two sigils of battle for the following reason: I can make up to 9 stacks just from it, but if I had just one sigil of battle I’d have to swap weapons every 5s to maintain them. In theory, that’s doable. In reality, not really. Expecially with two weapons that are put together to work in different situations. With two sigil you won’t have to worry that much.
You can build up to 20 stacks of might pretty easily, but you might need some time to make them. That’s why I use soldier’s Amulet: I feel too squishy with Berserker. And I still have 40% crit chance (You can easily keep Fury up all the time)
Obviously, you have to avoid enemy S/d thieves for they might become a pretty big problem. Maybe you can keep them at bay with fire AoE and try to overpower them. But the thief might decide to leave you there and go killing someone else with those stacks.
At least it’s different than Mace/GS build.

You don’t have to. I roll a bunker war in sPvP without cc or condi and it’s very good. I’d say probably easiest class to play right now in sPvP.

I know its pretty likely. But one can hope eh? I know in the previous leaked notes a few traits were something silly like 33% Faster projectile speed, which turned out to be false.
Still holding out hope, but already got a slight build change already for it if it does occur. But it’s kinda kitten how much my build gets hammered every few months.

You don’t have to. I roll a bunker war in sPvP without cc or condi and it’s very good. I’d say probably easiest class to play right now in sPvP.

Got something similiar but i used to run gs+rifle (i know rifle sux, and the combination itself is even worse) howered i tried a lb today and giving it a shot to see how it goes. Problem is its lacking a burst, and bc i prefer to run melee+range wep over 2 melee i don’t thinking about picking a sword or axe for offset
I guess i will try some combination with axe/shield (i like underdog weps). Tried a mace as main wep and dindt went that bad due to pommel>skull crack>chain “combo”
I don’t know how u could kill anyone in bunker “power” build. I can understand condition but not power. Also 1 condition called poison is enough to shut down that “bunker”

I use it in spvp, so maybe things are different. But LB gives you even more might and #3 Arcing Arrow. Not to forget you have a good condi damage with might. Same reason with GS: provides might, and is actually a good stand-alone damage weapon: autoattack deals good damage and Rush lands if you use it in melee.

Hey, You should switch greatsword to sigl of strength its a lot stronger I was recently testing and made a might stack evis build that is really good. I could get off 10-12k evis’s constantly. But, I would switch out the amulet to zerks otherwise strength sigl will be bad with that build.

I tried with Berserker’s amulet and I felt too squishy. Or maybe I just had bad luck. However the problem is you need some staying power to be able to build all the might you need. And the damage difference is not that high: 22% damage.
With soldier you have 44% crit chance and + 75% crit damage. With Berserker you have 70% and + 90%. To calculate the damage bonus coming from crit, you use the following formula: crit chance/100 * (crit damage/normal damage – 1). To see the difference in damage you have to make (1+bonus damage with Berserker Setup)/(1+ bonus damage with Soldier) – 1.
Considering I’m also tight on utility, I really like that bonus armor (also because I always like armored characters more). But maybe it’s a bit noob-friendly this way, and I should change that.
I didn’t know Sigil of Strength had been buffed, though. Last time I tried it, it was inferior to Battle in every occasion, but now the cooldown has been reduced it’s not.
BUT
let’s do some math: you have +60% might duration. That means each stack will last 16 seconds. Sigil of Battle can stack a maximum of 9 stacks all the time, with somne build up.
This means that to equal Sigil of Battle, Sigil of Strength must activate at least 9 times every 16 seconds. This means you have to deal at least 27 (= 9/0,3) crits every 16 seconds. With 70% crit chance you have to make 38 hits every 16 seconds on average.
This is not impossible, especially if you are cleaving more than one enemy per strike. But in such a situation, you’d probably be already at 25 stacks thanks to Forceful Greatsword, even with battle sigil.
About weapons…
What I like about Longbow and Greatsword is that you can do everything with them.
I have spike (GS # 5, GS #3, LB # 3), AoE and cleave damage and I don’t suffer too much from gap creators thanks to GS. And if things go rough with kiters, I can keep constant pressure with LB autoattack, which becomes kinda dangerous with enough might. And GS autoattack is awesome.
And I am kind of a Berserk fanboy, that’s why I chose GS.
Axe might be a bit trickier, especially in 1v1s. AAs are harder to use, for they rely on landing the whole chain.
But might stacking setup works with any weapon combination.

Warriors was so bad in Spvp that now seems like it’s getting too much stuff.
Down this road will be again a “Nerf War please” s*itstorm like back in betas.
I mean, i agree that it needed a buff some months ago, but in the round of like 3 patches got improved CC, heals/sustain, EP/Zerk stance, traits redone, dmg untouched and more… and it’s still getting buffed.

This is build I am trying out but I am not going with battle on greatswod because hb it self can stack up to 16 stacks from both forceful greatsword and sigl of strength. Plus you have short temper where you gain 3 stacks of might when you are blocked which is really strong coupled with your elite might stacks its quite a lot. The main goal is to max my eviscerates. I dropped the might stacking runes because might duration really is not worth it with so much boon stripping. sigl and my mights base duration is not to long so I just went with scholars for dps. I know maybe droping soldiers will be lot harder. But, it will reward you with some high crits. What I like about zerk warr is makes me vary of my surroundings so I do not get insta gibbed.
Longbow currently is better than axe but axe is devastating as a gank utility it can 1 shot eles and with might signet if you have reaction time to pop it right when they pop ageis or have block up and evis its unexpected and people usually will get hit by it and you can really put lots of pressure. Only problem right now these kind of builds that go full zerk are not good for team play because of condi meta but if that ever changes back to power these builds will become a lot more prevalent (and when regen on warrior gets nerfed along with stuns).

Your build looks kinda hardcore, and I’ll try it, even if I don’t like the flavor of a GC warrior (just… a squishy guy with a heavy armor? Weeeeeiiiiird XD).
