What are the main builds?

I loved hammer builds that focused on burst skills, mainly a hammer/LB AoE build for all forms of gameplay. But now with the adrenaline changes I simply cannot use this build without blowing my heal in the middle just to get a full bar, and personally I like the signet heal better anyway.

I also liked using axes with the auto crit on burst skills and prioritized evis and then straight power/fero and defense. Mainly for just PvE in the open-world in story events and such, more of a solo experience build really. But this doesn’t really work now either, since you can’t keep your adrenaline up and in fights that last long enough to use evis a few times I’d rather have my hammer/LB build anyway.

So what exactly is considered the best warrior builds atm? Or are they all the same and we just have to deal with being nerfed into the ground?

Just play celestial strength rune ele, you’ll never die to anyone ever while you can kill anyone ever and you will never get nerfed because Anet doesn’t understand that it’s broken because it’s not as straightforward as duumfire or hambow.

Just play celestial strength rune ele, you’ll never die to anyone ever while you can kill anyone ever and you will never get nerfed because Anet doesn’t understand that it’s broken because it’s not as straightforward as duumfire or hambow.

Warrior builds are the same still.

I not even sure they understand those either. Hambow (the build everyone cries about) is the least affected from the nerfs. Try to figure that one out.

Looks to me like Hambow or condi builds still run as you say accepting what the nerf does. If you did not like being pidgeon-holed into Hambow or condi & liked to craft something else (admittedly not as optimal as the metas), but relied on use of burst skills & adren those are basically gone (IMO). You could go with a bland build avoiding anything adren related, but to me that takes the whole fun out of Warrior… Actually the feature patch adren changes took the whole fun out of warrior for me, in truth.

My current new “build” is playing other characters with my warrior indefinitely retired, or in r/p crippled and in seclusion pending possible eventual? recovery from some great wound (probably some sort of backstab :P). I’ve been rotating through guardian & necro mainly lately with some engi here and there, loved the warrior concept so not really happy to settle with one but there you have it, when I’m not doing something else outside of gw2.

I’ve never been able to make sw/sw LB work, but I had a pretty successful sw/wh LB build for WvW before the nerf. It’s now unusable because it’s so hard to land a combustive shot at full adrenaline. Back to playing thief/guardian for me until ANET makes some sensible changes by giving a 10 sec count down before adrenaline starts draining.

I prefer axe/sword or axe/shield myself. Shield helps with setting up and landing eviscerate. Also axe is much better at generating adrenaline with sharpened axes.

If I could work in the new trait duel wield agility I think that would be fun but you’d have to sacrifice either damage or survivability to get it.

I realize this isn’t very meta but I play what I want. Which is why right now I prefer ele to warrior. Sad. Elementalists seem like they have so many different possible buiilds that synergize well while anet has done everything they can to get rid of synergy within warrior builds. And that is ironic considering their goal of trying to nerf hambow..

Offhand sword is just to stack that torment (which also got nerfed) and provides a good to have block just in case. Pretty much we are shafted into playing condi-based in WvW now to be able to get some lootbags. Hambow is pretty much used everywhere from PvP to WvW, most would know how to counter it.

Well combustive shot is still “landable” – just try to shoot it closer to you, which reduces the long telegraphed attack pattern, and make that travel animation less noticed. And hope it doesn’t bug for whatever reason cause I had combustive shots disappear into thin air and my adrenaline gone (and no its not been reflected, blocked, etc). If you miss, just curse the game and use the fire field to get some might.

Stealth nerf to ham bow they never mentioned (or long bow in general). 10% chance of broken bow sting when using long bow skills, shots don’t fire.

(this is sarcasm, but just another bug warriors have to deal with)
