PVE Build with gs help
Hey, sorry no one has answered your question in 9 hours :P
So, overall as you say you prefer greatsword, you’r goal is primarily to kill the enemies faster than they can kill you, which means a focus on DPS over defense.
Depending on your skill level, it shouldn’t really be too hard to get through with any reasonable build. Posting your level would help with what kind of traits you can use and what gear stats are available. If you know how to avoid damage well a full dps build should be ok, at least for the lower level story missions, otherwise you’d be better going with a more balanced build.
This is the build I’m running atm with full zerker gear, from a wvw video on youtube

It’s kind of a balanced build, with a lot of defensive traits but the DPS is still pretty close to other DPS builds (~3.2k attack), and you won’t die as often. It works well roaming in wvw, and its good enough to get me through CoF p1 farming without being called out for low dps (easily 11000+ HB on normal environment mobs without might stacking beforehand, cleaving 3 mobs at once you can easily reach 25 might stacks from forceful greatsword). Working pretty well in fractals too. I stuck endure pain in there in case you need it for large groups of mobs in story missions, but I usually run on my mark in dungeons and bulls charge in wvw/open world farming. Shake it off is good for a stunbreak or for getting rid of that annoying 30 sec poison that’s keeping you in combat, and for great justice will help with your kill speed (and help other people if you group). The Axe/Shield set comes with a nice burst on eviscerate, plus the stun and block utility to help you survive. With this build you also have a decent number of boons (regen, vigor, fury, might, stability, swiftness) which are nice, as well as the passive heal from adrenal health.
You could also go for a straight dps build, with traits like this:

with signets for self buffs, but depending on how good you are this could just lead to lots of deaths if you can’t avoid the big hits.
As far as your gear goes, zerker (power/precision/crit dmg) or knights (toughness/power/precision) are probably your best bet – at lower levels you will be looking at a mix of power, precision and toughness gear (while you are at one stat per gear item), and working up to one of the two stat combos depending on what you think you need.
