Is there a viable pve warrior build that uses hammer? i really like a hammer using character

I’ve had limited success running 2/0/6/0/6 zerker ham bow. It stacks moderate amounts of might and the hammer hits pretty hard. Stack might by blasting your bows fire field while zerker stance is up; you can achieve about 20 stacks assuming u have strength runes.

But it doesn’t stack might as fast as any phalanx strength build, and does less damage than a straight up axe or gd build. But it is fun to play and the aoe damage is great.

The short asnwer is no.

A longer answer would tell you that using hammer for anything else then solo content is severely limiting your party.

And even for solo content it falls far behind a lot of other weapons (GS, Axe, even sword).

if you insist on using hammer, then please please please, don’t use the knock backs to send enemies flying out of stacks. pleaaaaase.

but basically cygnus is correct. there is no good build, just less bad ones.

Hammer is good in PvP and WvW but really one of the very worst and least useful weapons in PvE. In fact, even the notoriously terrible rifle is more useful in PvE than hammer… that’s saying a lot.

So, the answer is unfortunately for you no. Sorry.

That said, there’s something very satisfying about smashing the Archdiviner in the face with his own hammer.

Yea when I get lazy to switch out my wvw build I just use my hammer and the best thing you can do is pretty much just have zerker gear to increase your damage other than that there’s not really anything a build can improve much on, I just , like how someone mentioned, don’t use 4 to move mobs around and earth shaker for the blast finisher

If you must use a hammer I think guardian does it a lot better for PvE but if it’s just for general smash and not speedstuff dungeons then why not? What maxinion said first is really important if you want to keep your friends, too :P

I tried a zerker ham bow build in cof. The max I saw was 6k crits on back breaker. In comparison the last hit of axe chain can crit for more.

Hammer is a control weapon. Control is pretty moot in most of PvE. Thus just by its design principles, hammers just don’t work in PvE.

I’ve tried making Hammer work in PvE and its just too impractical. Its designed for group CC so its more for WvW/PvP. Its an okay weapon for trash mobs and useless on boss Defiance. I’d rather camp Longbow than Hammer in PvE.
