Hello, I am primarily PVE on my Warrior and have a balanced spec primarily using GS for dps and Axe / Horn or Mace / Shield secondary. I realize that I am not the best tank or the best dps, but feel I can do either based on the pug but not as well as a specialist.

I trained the horn to remove conditions and also use Soldiers Runes to cure even more from the party and have regen banners.

I note in a lot of threads people said that we are invited to parties for DPS and even to run all Zerkers as you get better in the game. On the other hand, in practice I noticed that I’d I am the only tank, pugs expect me to pull all the mobs, defend points, and tank if possible. If I can’t get aggro I use horn to speed up allies and allow more dodges and weaken.

Is this that helpful or should I worry more about dps? Is more dps better than the support I can bring?

Another form of support is CC. Because my build doesn’t specialize in shouts, warhorn, or banners to either heal or remove conditions and I dislike being wet tissue too much to be full on glass cannon, my build is more balanced and lends to having well timed CC to keep the mob’s attention or to disrupt them from certain actions.

The weapons for the job tend to be mace, hammer or a shield and either ranged weapon for kiting. Utilities are general, things to help you out when something isn’t well timed. It requires knowledge of the foe, their attacks and how to evade/disrupt them and patience since alot of the times you’re in the mob’s face and have to eat some gnarly attacks. During bosses, you’re looking at being flexible, knowledgeable and mobile.

I’m a glass cannon, and all I care about is having the highest dps. So as far as I’m concerned, any support a warrior can give is having traited banners (banners of strength and discipline) and/or shouts (FGJ and OMM).

Although, I agree that a tank is a form of support. So if you want to go in that direction, you should maximize in it instead of going half and half. If you don’t have high enough toughness or whatnot, you couldn’t even pull aggro and won’t be a useful tank.
