PVT gear for wvw warriors?
PVT is great for WvW. Pros: High power, vitality and toughness. Basically best stats for warrior. The only downside is the lack of precision, and therefore usually paired with knights and zerker to get crit damage up.
Pros: Tanky. Works in zerg play where damage come from team.
Cons: You are sub-par for small skirmishes. While you have a lot of power warriors do not do sufficient damage unless they critical. You will also want some critical damage then as well. That is why people don’t play full PTV unless they are newer to warrior and running around in zergs.
You could go full PTV armor and then mix knights/caviler/zerker weapons and trinkets to get to an acceptable amount of critical change/damage.

What? SHOCK!
Actually, PVT armor is decent for anything in WvW as a warrior. Just make sure to get zerk trinkets, or your damage will be too low. Unless you zerg off course.
PVT armor is actually great for small roaming, as Afro is proving with his new spec.

Lol
And second that, take a look at Afros videos!
2k Power unbuffed
30% Crit Chance before Fury
200% Crit Damage
2.8k Armor but no more than 3k
28k HP Buffed
Itemize how you please but going full Soldier stats won’t achieve this.
PVT is scrubbage gear for bunnyrabbits. Anyone that claims to do “hot shii” damage with pvt is a liar ( the DPS is from the other 4 guys doing pewpew).
Any warrior serious about wvw should avoid it completely.
Beware, for Commander Kaga farms j00, ktrainer!

PVT is for new players who pretty much just installed the game.

Agreed.
My warrior buddies and I go full zerk. When we run into a PVT warrior in a 5v5 we completely ignore him because he does zero damage.. After demolishing his team we just save him for last.

Wtf r u talking about? Warrior tend to take the brunt of the enemy attack they well melt is anything less than pvt. Unless ur running zerg busting with a really organized group u should have pvt armor with optional accessories.

Not if you avoid damage using very basic abilities. Dodging, staying out of red circles, kiting, blocks, invulnerabilities, etc.
If two evenly skilled 10 man groups faced off against each other while one is all zerk and the other is all PVT hammer train warrior guardians, then the zerker group would win. We do this all the time against “zerg comp” guilds. Pretty easy fights and it’s hilarious to see the zerg builds complain in PMs about being murdered.

This may work on smaller servers, but on T1-2 you are hardly ever just fighting perfectly organized 10 man groups.
Against a large zerg you will melt as a zerker.

I don’t see a lot of groups of only 10 in tier 6

PVT is great for a new player running with zergs, which I thought OP was, hence the “PVT is great” statement. But in small skrimishes your damage will be even more important and survival comes from your group, blasting fields and moving aorund etc. not your health pool or even your toughness to a degree.
Damage is best defence in small groups, which means your survival’s only job is to carry you good enough to dish out damage and keep pressure, nothing else.
It’s simple: If you die too fast, you’re not getting it. But dying too slow can be as bad, because you don’t contribute at max to your group. When everyone else is dead there’s no point in being alive.
So you should avoid PVT in small groups. Your damage is the key to being a succesful teamplayer.
This depends on what type of WvW Warrior you’re talking about. If it’s for Roaming PVT is nice but not full PVT. You will need to throw in soldier/Valk/zerk/etc to give your warrior the damage he needs to win those small skirmishes. Now if you’re talking about a Zerg Warrior PVT is the way to go. In a Zerg a Warrior’s role would be Front Line Tank so you will be taking heavy damage and also be put on rams.
I run all zerker gear in WvW and get my toughness from other sources:
-Melandru runes
-6 points in Defense
-Shield Master trait
-Dolyak signet
This gets me up to 1770 toughness (3k armor) but with 70% crit chance (with fury) and 212% crit dmg with 4 points in Discipline. Plus added vitality from guard stacks…..works like a cheerm.

PVT armor + weapons. Berserker trinkets. This should give you an overall balance when you play in groups with 10+
If I roamed though, I would go full berserker.
