I heard there is a greatsword (2 hander) that has a glowing ice effect, But I was wondering if this was the only type out there? I am aware that the legendary weapons have some effect, but as I don’t want to spend my life farming to get one I could use some help. I am looking for axes and any help would be appreciated.

The “glowing ice weapons” are called Corrupted weapons. They can be made by weaponsmiths with the recipe that is bought from a vendor in frostgorge after killing the Claw of Jormag. There is a Corrupted weapon for every weapon type.

There is also the destroyer weapons which are made of lava and have a smokey particle effect when drawn. They are basically crafted the same as any other weapon but you add Destroyer lodestones to the crafting screen (30 for the greatsword)

The weapons bought with tokens from AC also have a particle effect during the night only giving them a ghostly apperance.

I’ve also seen a sword that has been covered in flames when drawn, not sure what it was.

Also there is these etheral “mist” weapons as well which can be created in the mystic forge.

I think you are referring to the Jotun Sword, I believe it glows when it is in use(or sheathed, I forget) Of course you can confirm this for yourself as this is just from memory as I saw someone using a Jotun Sword in WvW.

Glyphic set is very accessible with significant particle effects. Only thing to compete with a Jotun Greatsword very early on. Runic might be worth checking out. Flame set has subtle effects in some cases. Krytan scepter and staff were the ones with a soft lantern glow I think. Not sure what the world equivalent of pvp peacemaker set is.

The greatsword covered in flames was likely the elementalist conjured weapon elite skill. Volcanus is an item that seems to share the look but nobody knows how to get one.

Cultural Tier 3 in Rata sum (60k karma each) will get you the peacemaker sets. Then there’s the inquest set from COF, each weapon in this set has electricity in the weapons and the weapons themselves are read. Alternatively, you can make them yourself, the mystic set, and they are the exact same but with a blue weapon color and blue electricity

Fiery Gladius has a very visible flame effect when drawn. No idea whether you can drop/make it in PvE but you can make the PvP one in the forge with Tiger tokens.

I know this is a scepter but it’s pretty cool.

Not to be confused with the ethereal/“mist” versions mentioned by Secro, the much cheaper, Mystic weapons also have a lightning effect (smaller spark effect) – the latter of what Flyfunner mentions.

I also have a GS that looks like it has an Octopuse arm, wrapped around it, and it drips water.
