Phalanx Strength
I don’t know if we yet have all the details on how phalanx strength operates. We do know that the might duration appears to be 6 seconds for allies, but we don’t know how many stacks it is or if the trait in on an internal cooldown. I imagine it will have some sort of cooldown though.
It does appear that it triggers whenever you “grant” yourself might, so it should work in conjunction with forceful greatsword.
If it’s a single stack of might, then it’s likely there’s a very low internal cooldown. As such, a trait like forceful greatsword might work very well with it. If it’s a larger number of might stacks, the internal cooldown will probably be longer, so forceful greatsword might not be as effective for triggering it.
As for FGJ, that should trigger the trait as well, although we don’t know how many might stacks it will grant. I don’t believe it will grant an additional might stack for every stack you grant yourself, but we’ll have to see it in action. That is, the three might stacks from FGJ may only count as a single application of might, and thus not trigger the phalanx strength trait multiple times (I guess if it has a cooldown it wouldn’t really matter anyways). So if phalanx strength only grants one might stack, then FGJ should grant 4 might stacks to allies, although one of them will be at a 6 second base duration unlike the other 3 from FGJ which would have 25 second base duration.
What Yamsandjams said! We don’t know yet the exact functionality of this trait.
This GM traits is really interesting. Imagine it being used by multiple warriors in WvW, using Discipline Trait I (Mighty Defenses) and charge into a zerg with shields up while having some +might duration runes equipped.
There is likely an ICD. It’s a bad trait anyway, a 6 second might stack overrides the longer ones from Eles.

They said in the Ready-Up that this trait will share any might that you grant yourself and that it includes might from Forceful Greatsword*. Not sure about FGJ though but it’d make sense if it granted 6 stacks.

I personally expect it to have an at least 1s ICD to prevent stuff like this.
Just look at Empowering Might on Guardians.

6s on Phalanx might seem short. But as already mentioned it it should be possible to increase the duration quite significantly. With Might runes you’d look at 6×1.75=10s. IF Phalanx Strength had an 1s ICD you could still get 10 permanent stacks of Might on your whole party when using Forceful Greatsword.
If there is an ICD with that 6-second duration this talent will see no play what-so-ever.
If there is no ICD I can see some interesting Destroyer Warrior WvW builds running it with Forceful Greatsword.

If runes of battle, combo effects and ragesig trigger it, all you need is 2 hambow guys and both should get easy 20+ might on all the time.
Altho it’s still giving up the tactics grandmaster for something that doesn’t heal you :S
I dunno… 2 hambow guys, one with shoutheals and one with regen bannah would probably have more sustain. And boost each other up with earthshaker/banner/arcing blasts without the additional might from phalanx.
Beware, for Commander Kaga farms j00, ktrainer!
