Guild Wars 2

Hi everyone ive recently started getting into WvW coming from extensive t/spvp experience and unlike spvp where u can try things, i want to get some advice before investing time and gold into a build and gear. Can you recommend some viable WvW builds to roam solo or in a small group of 3-5 with guildies? Im NOT looking to join big Zergs. I was leaning towards a zerker build but it would seem too squishy? Im considering a mix/hybrid maybe or going shouts/toughness.

Heres two for when you run in a small group. These are two support warriors who bring enough utility, cc, and support that you will be a godsend to those you play with

Now if you dont want the lemongrass soup, you can substitute it for the very nice food buff: Omnomberry Compote: you will be tagging enough enemies as it is, and if you have good clean up team you will never be short of heals (by kills, from fields, or from your own shouts/self heal)

You can go with Endure Pain, or Dolyak Signet(switch your discipline III major trait to VI if you go Dolyak Signet) instead of Frenzy if you want, and you can go with Hoelbrak runes for more damage if that is what your after.

Gear I replaced some of my berserker gear with valkyrie to get down to 50% crit chance.

I don’t know if it’s what your looking for but I’m having alot of fun with it. Just stun with mace F1 and then weapon swap and blow them up with 100b or chain your bulls charge, shield stun, mace daze and mace stun to set up a damage spike for your buddies before you switch to GS. If you get low on HP and your buddies are not going to die don’t be afraid to GS 3/5 away and get out of combat to regain health (but watch out for that dang invisible thief that is waiting for you!)

If you feel the elite is not working for you, simply swap it out for SoR.

thanks penguin. overall im noticing moderate to high toughness/armor. Is this what you ideally wanna have in wvw regardless of the build/spec?

In builds running mace/shield, GS and unsuspecting foe people aim for either 30 or 50 critical chance so u end up on 100% when the target is stunned. The difference is if you want to rely on fury or not. Personally i think you shouldn’t, since SoR is better not used in fights against Thieves and Necros and most mesmers simply remove all your precious boons.
I think the reason we build high armor is because in wvw you have a lot of stat points to play around with and after either 30% or 50% precision gets less valuable.

I don’t know probably it is just my opinion but specing on just 50% crit with fury and then unsuspecting foe is rather bad and I don’t think many people are doing this. Most roaming builds(probably except hammer) have 70+ % with fury since if you don’t manage to stun your foe you’re left with low dps for a long time. I don’t think it is advisable to hope to get lucky your opponent doesn’t dodge.
Running berserker is definatly a good option but you almost have to do it with melandru or hoelbrak runes + dogged march + lemongrass otherwise conditions will eat you up.I use 2 knight earrings in my builds usually just to get around 2700 toughness.
This is just my personal opinion so I hope I don’t kitten off some people.
Jarettellis Shout builds are quite nice for groups and zergs. Like he said it is support and it works perfectly well. I have never been able to be good at it doing 1on1 though. Althoug I’d change the 10 points in strenght for either unsuspecting foe or 10 points in discipline.
Rez’s build if it works for him seems quite nice but I’m not sure about 2 points:
If you have 25 points in arms I’d guess a sigill of geomancy works better then a sigill of hydromancy just for the synergy to get 10% damage. And if you don’t use cleansing ire i’d use mending or something to get rid of conditions in a critical moment. Condi spam is quite popular these days
So I prefer 0/20/20/0/30 with Gs mace/shield but yeah it always depends on your playstyle.
Since the last patch there have been a lot of decent roaming builds with LB + S/Wh or S+Shield builds as well so I’d suggest the OP to have a look at those. They’re all within the last 2 or 3 pages and also videos of how to play them. (i prefer something like 0/20/20/0/30 or 0/0/20/20/30 <- zerg)
Hope I could help you and I wasn’t trying to criticize the other builds too much I was just wondering why they played their warriors that way. I learn something each day why other people chose their traits.
And check out the ninja build that one of the guys posted on one of the last pages. I’m loving it but i takes a while to get used to it

About changing DFA for unsuspecting foe, that is quite reasonable. Only had DFA for lawls/and a bit of strategic planning. Because if you get at least 3 warriors with this trait, you can drop down on a catapult, or ram and do serious damage with blowbacks, the damage on impact (the damage and blowback has no aoe cap so you can hit well over 50 with just the one warrior and DFA), than having a few secs to pummel the siege. (this is suicidal though, and only is done when your walls are under heavy aoe and you have a hard time getting at their siege. ) But yeah, my builds: feel free to swap those 10 points in strength for anything else really, more preferance 10 pts really.
