PvE Runes of choice...
Scholar with Fried Golden Dumplings is meta
Ruby Orbs have never let me down with their amazing advantage of costing 15 silver a piece.
Scholar if you only run perfectly organised groups.
Pack, Ogre or Ranger if you dont.

Ranger don’t work anymore for Warrior.

And rune of the ogre will get you kicked even from PHIW pugs because there’s not a lot of people with high tolerance for summons causing pain in dungeons.
Yeah,
Totally agree Scholar’s is the best, but only in extremely organized dungeons (which is almost never what I’m in, ever).
I moved around some skills & I like the build better in terms of debilitating my targets, but now I find my Might generation has fallen a little. I think ultimately I’ll end up having to invest in Strength whether I want to or not. At least that way I’ll assure myself of having 25 Might at all times plus ~100% uptime of Fury as well as a permanent 5% damage bonus.
I’m trying to justify a cheaper alternative, but after testing a few tunes in some dungeon environments, I think I answered my own question…
If you’re looking for ghetto alternative, Flame Legion, has some crappy effects on it, but it’s a super cheap way to get +Power and +% Damage (Since you’ll almost always be running with a guard)
If you want a real meta build though, you gotta pay for it, no way around it.
Runes of aristocracy are an alternative. They give same +% might duration as strength, and instead of 5% damage bonus they give 3 stacks of might on heal.
The catch is they boost condi damage not power and when you’re a warrior you don’t use healing signet unless things are already 20 miles south of mexico..
It sounds like you are “min maxing” so I can’t comment too well on what to equip there. I can tell you that my wife is pretty casual and we put Ogre’s on her Guardian and she absolutely loves it. The Dog can be pretty handy in open world pve when she’s traveling by herself.

My eyes just melted out of my head.

Same.
I’ve actually seen people who had the audacity to troll me by showing full ascended berserker armor sets with ruby orbs before. I was not amused, joke was just too cruel on their part.

I made this just for you . . . <3
Some cheap runes that served me well are Superior Runes of the Warrior—they give Power and Vitality buff and reduce weapon swap (so you don’t need Fast Hands and can put that point elsewhere). Also Runes of the Wurm—good for cheap DPS. Soldier runes are solid if you run shouts and I don’t think they’re too expensive.
Hoelbrak seems to be the most expensive, and they seem to have themost utility in pve, pvp, and wvw. It’s probably the one set that can do all. Melandru runes seem nice too. Try out several in pvp and see what works. It’s free.
Hoelbrak
A slightly less expensive rune than strength with a bit of defense
Runes of Privateer
A super cheep rune with the same power stats as might or hoelbrak.
Can shout YARR! to grant 3 stacks of might to self and everyone around (phalanx gives them 6). So its like a 2nd FGJ!
Can also summon a parrot that lasts a pretty long time. On its own its nothing special and plenty of meta people will say rock dog beats everything else.
However phalanx strength gives might to every ally around you.
Ive seen numerous times that my 25might stack parrot hits for over 3-4k crits when im roaming around in pve alone
