PvE advice
GS and axe mace. Take a longbow for when you need to range or create a fire field. Should really have all weapons though for pve. sword warhorn and gs are good for running and offhand sword is good for encounters where you need blocks (melee lupi).
Alright, here’s what you do. You spec full berserker with a great sword, equip full berserker gear and then never practice any boss mechanics at all. Then, when you get into a group and stand directly in the path of some attack or other and thus get downed due to having a tiny, tiny health pool and a complete inability to dodge, you loudly kitten and moan with caps lock on about how everyone else is terrible and rage-quit.
Then you repeat.
On a serious note, Rifle works very well for single target damage at range, in my experience.
Longbow is better due to the higher sustained damage. Rifle only has killshot going for it. Longbow has arcing arrow and a better auto attack.
By the way, when spoj says “needs” to range, he doesn’t mean when you’re too lazy to learn an encounter and just want to brain afk, he means when it’s actually disadvantageous or impossible to melee.
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)
“colesy’s on rampage today. Slaying casuals left, right and centre” – spoj
Thanks for the advice.. I didn’t want to go full GC so opted for zerker/knight mix.
How about the build in general? Am I missing any traits that you think I should have?
(I’d do some WvW but realise that GS Warriors are just loot bags for the opposing team :-( hehe )
Longbow > rifle
a/m+gs should be your bread and butter weapons.
having a sword/shield/warhorn are all very situational but nice to have.
swap your knights for zerk. its better to learn good habits right away then lean on a crutch (toughness) and have to relearn those proper habits.

Basically what these intelligent fellows said.
Get into good habits early on and learn the hard way with full zerker gear. Will make you a much better player in the long run and as colesy said ranging is something that is only done when you absolutely have to. You may have to range encounters that decent groups would always melee if you are pugging, but sometimes its safe to melee while the rest of the group ranges. Depends on the situation.
