I’m having.. A pretty rough time trying to deal with Trappers in PvP. I played one for the longest time so I know how they work but on the other end it’s extremely difficult to land any meaningful damage without putting myself in a terrible position.
I run zerker amulet and a full offensive build that lets me +1 fights and cover mid and home points as well as far if I’m needed there. Tons of mobility and very high damage as well as decent, not great, condition management on weapon swap every 4seconds and -20% duration from Hoelbrak runes.
Trying to fight a Trapper on point though just doesn’t work… I know PvP is a team based game so should I just not fight Trappers when I see them or is there a method I could use to gain the upper hand that I’m not yet aware of?
landing CI and your hammer stuns will help, as will making the use of your zerker stance. assuming the ranger has two traps they will have one stunbreak so it’s about landing cc then bursting while managing your condis.
skullcrack could be a good build to run for the blocks/reflects and 4sec stun.
What kind of Berserker warrior? If you’re talking about the usual melee warrior (e.g. GS/Hammer), then that’s unfortunately a naturally bad matchup: you have moderate condition cleansing and you need to be at melee (on traps) to do some damage. Even if you time your Berserker Stance / Healing Signet resistance well enough, the ranger has enough Protection, Regeneration, control (with his pets) and own invulnerabilities to handle your burst.
If you bundle some range weapons, then things may be different. GS/Bow with Cleansing Ire may work reasonably (because you can still maintain pressure without taking too much yourself), and GS/Rifle can be seriously dangerous (because a trap ranger has no block/reflect). Aside from Berserker, you could also go for condition build (but that’s an entirely different game play, which you may or may not enjoy).
As you’ve stated, you’re not alone. You’ll be running a build, with its own role and counters, and will have to rely on your team to compensate for its weaknesses. Personally, I don’t spend too much time against condi bunkers when I meet them (let them stay on their nodes), and rather seek to +1 elsewhere.
Just tend to land a hammer 5, juke a blinding then hammer f1 into blinding geegee but that’s vs average lol.
Use Berserker stance. Run all over the trap, then proceed to kill the trap ranger.
Dodge rolling through them also works.
