PvP Warrior Woes
Dodge, endure pain, shield block, etc.
This game is reflex-based, try to avoid stuff / negate damage.
The only ones a Warrior should have a problem with are D/D Eles (this is an everyone’s problem as they’re OP as hell), P/D Thieves and good Mesmers.
You should wreck others with ease if you play your cards right.
Not really sure how you are dying really fast.
I’ve never really had any survival problems, and most of the fights are equal in terms of damage output. It’s usually just skill which separates me from losing or winning.
The most I can say is to try and anticipate when your opponent is going to burst and hopefully use shield block beforehand. I usually save my Endure Pain only when the opponent is bursting. Other times I just rely on Shield Block and evading.
If you are desperate enough, use it at the start if your initiation if thats where you find yourself losing the most HP.
Another thing I notice is that people use their healing skills very late in a battle. Although it isn’t good to use it early, you never want to save your heals only when you’re about to die because it isn’t worth it can you can be burst down easily. Try use it as soon as possible but efficiently enough to not waste any health.
It is also important to note how important knockdowns and stuns are. I usually run with bullrush even though I use a Longbow because the knockdown is amazing. Bullrush can be used for so many situations. Gap closer/Distancing yourself, knockdown, interrupt etc. etc. And a well timed knockdown can be your saving grace.
Shield Bash = amazing. With the sigil with the increased stun, you can use that to your advantage.
By the looks of the way you’re built, I don’t think tanking damage is the way to avoid dying. In your and my case, we need to rely on dodging and skills to evade and negate as much damage as possible and maintain a good output of damage. If we sit there and try tank it we will get smashed.
my 2 cents.

hmmm i guess thats useful its just…well i dunno certain classes just WRECK me as well. Like i can take on almost any other warrior, or hunter, engineer, necro, or some ele’s but mesmers and thiefs just kittening DESTROY me. i mean at least with a thief i can do some damage usuallyh get him at 1/2 health but a mesmer is just kitten i drop target every 2 seconds, and they have those illusions which do damage, AND they hit like trucks and portal around constantly.
Warriors don’t have very much defensive capability relative to other classes. Any problems in hotjoin however are mostly due to ignorance rather than imbalance.
Try this build: 20/20/0/0/30
Strength: V, IX
Arms: VI, X
Discipline: V, X, VII
Greatsword of Fire
Axe of Intelligence
Shield of Fire
6. Healing Surge
7. Bull’s Charge
8. Frenzy
9. Balanced Stance
10. Signet of Rage
6/6 Runes of Rage
Berserker Amulet (alt. use Soldiers if you feel you’re having too hard a time being squishy)
Greatsword is your primary damage source. Shield is used primarily for Shield Stance. Shield Bash is incredibly useful however, especially for setting up an eviscerate if you know they can dodge.
Intelligence and Axe is used for weapon swap -> Eviscerate for 100% crit chance. Expect around 8-14k 100bs, 100% fury uptime, 50% swiftness and might uptime, around 700-1000 greatsword autoattacks, and 5-8k crit eviscerates. (roughly) Other than some alterations, this is basically one of the variants of the standard meta 100B build that’s been in use since basically beta (ex. no more divinity runes)
Pick encounters intelligently. You have little ability to disengage a fight. Competitively you’ll be very weak 1v1, and have to be constantly baby sat in group fights. Hotjoin you’ll be a living god.

But yeah overall build works, just don’t 1v1. Play like a bs thief with that 100b build lol
imo warrior truly shines in team spvp situations via defensive c/c builds, but that’s just me.
[HL] Deadly Protection @ Sanctum of Culling
Thousand blades? That sounds cool, i’ll take that over this wimpy hundred blades I have.

This is the warrior buff everyone is waiting for.

Do not take offense but those are l2p problems.
Burst Thief is the easiest to kill (maybe second easiest if we include lolrangers), just endure pain their burst and 2shot them.
Mesmer, EP/Sblock the first shatter, learn to spot the real one, win.
D/D Eles are the real challenge. To kill one I needed a total of 57,400 damage last time.
Funny how we’re deemed as “sturdy” yet D/D Eles are the tankiest by far.
I agree with Red Falcon.
Going against a Shatter Cat mesmer is pure Learn 2 Play.
Best way? I recommend you make a mesmer and use the shattercat builds yourself.
You learn what each illusions looks like and the general movement patterns mesmers utilize. Once you get this down, they aren’t as hard.
The only reason you see mesmers 1v5 and win is because most people can’t tell the difference between illusion and real mesmer instantly… also… I would say that most don’t even know what mesmer skills do lol
1. switch to axe/shield for offhand if you’re not using that yet. YOU NEED shield offhand.
2. you have mobility with warrior. abuse that to gain more map control. Warriors are generally not great at 1v1s. However, they are one of the BEST classes for 2v1s because they burst SO hard.
Find a 1v1, go in, kill in 2 sec, and use that to gain map advantage. The speed at which you can finish a target if they’re not focusing on you is basically why I love wars. Don’t try to 1v1 a mes or an ele and try to abuse numbers if you can.

Just tested it, you’re correct. 6 on Rune of Rage is bugged.
This changes everything. =0
mesmers can be tough fights depending on the player, assuming the same skill level between a mesmer and a warrior, a mesmer will win more times than not. They have plenty of ways to mitigate damage, kite you and break out of stuns while applying conditions and confusion on you.
The best way to beat a mesmer is to get in their face, be aggressive and constantly keep pressure on them by going in melee range. Playing passive against them I find doesn’t work out very well, don’t be scared if you take 3-4k damage, be aggressive, force them to blow their cooldowns and they won’t be able to do much.
Burst thieves aren’ t really that huge of a problem, many of them are glass cannon or glass cannon-ish. If you can block at least most of their heartseekers and their steal/CnD combo, they have blown most of their DPS, will probably be forced to retreat and stealth. A few good hits and some CC can kill them pretty easily. Condition thieves can be a bit problematic however.
D/D eles present the biggest problem to a warrior, they have excellent CC, sustain, anti-CC, chill is a warrior’s worst nightmare. You kind of have to gauge their cooldowns, and be opportunistic and strike the ele when their boons are not on. Bursting them when they are most vulnerable seems to be the key there.
Sometimes even bunker/tanky/retaliation based guardians can be problematic in certain situations.
But your trait set up kind of hints to me though that you are a glass cannon yourself, unless you have alot of toughness and vitality in your gear. If that is the case, of course you are going to die really fast. Going glass cannon on a warrior in WvW isn’t really viable unless you want to pop 20k killshots behind your group. Classes like Mesmers and Thieves can get the “preemptive strike” on warriors so going glass cannon 1v1 against those classes probably wouldn’t end up with you faring to well.
