Hello, Newcomers!!
I am The Korean Gamer and have been playing Warrior for nearly 2 years
I have decided to write down some tips for new users since the game has been F2P. So, here we go!
[INTRODUCTION]
This is a guide to people who just started Warrior and is probably interested in playing Shout Warrior over Stance.
Shout warrior is currently one of ongoing meta with stance warrior and is used in world and weekly tournament a lot.
The reason why Shout build is used is because it can actually do some damage while also support people, which means it greatly boosts the whole team performance. So if you are interested in Shout Warrior, please continue read. However, if you like 1vs1 dueling things, I do not recommend playing Shout warrior lol (except GreatRifle, it is pretty much good at dueling. Just put crack shot and Battle Rage signet against mesmers)
Please assume that, I would say that running build that is good at 1vs1 in Conquest Arena is kind of a waste of time unless your purpose is increasing your personal action skills. The reason is that there is always counter build to whatever you make for 1vs1 dueling: You cannot win everyone in every job even though you thought you made best dueling build. This game pretty much allows you to customize your build pretty much detail than other games, which means, the game system will always allow people to create counter build against to 1vs1 dueling build you made. Imagine that you run Hambow but your opponent runs full of break stun & stability skills, now you must feel what I talk about here. However, You can still play dueling for fun though, but personally I do not recommend running dueling build in conquest arena. You will have less winrate
With this fact, why don’t we just play build that is designed for 5vs5 Conquest arena?
Therefore, Shout Meta comes in.
[3 Viable Shout Metas With its Builds and Play Videos]
Note that All Builds below are tested to have a decent winning rate around avg 65~70% when All rounds are solo-queued in RANKED ARENA except GreatRifle because I didn’t test its winrate
1. ShoutBow (Easiest)
2. Banner Shout (Medium Difficulty)
3. GreatRifle (Hardest)
If you are newcomer, I recommend you playing from ShoutBow first, since it is designed to be easiest meta which best fit into newcomer and it will bring you pretty much good outcome (Or you can start from Banner Shout as well if you have general good knowledge of Gaming). And then I recommend you to move onto Banner Shout or GreatRifle when you get somehow experienced in the game. (With at least 1~2 month experience of ShoutBow, thus then you can actually feel the difference between Banner Shout, GreatRifle and ShoutBow. Otherwise you will not really understand the difference between them and this will decline your improvement as Warrior)
[OPTION 1 : GreatRifle for WvW]
If you like to DPS and play WvW a lot, I recommend you playing GreatRifle Over Banner Shout when you decided to migrate from ShoutBow. GreatRifle is hardest Warrior build that doesn’t have a endure pain and Cleasing Ire. You will fight pretty much tactfully in fact since you don’t have them. Therefore, there is explanations about 4 ways of inflicting Killshot in the document, and the way how to fight condition based enemy without having Cleansing Ire in the document.
[OPTION 2 : Banner Shout for PvP]
If you like to play PvP more than WvW, then I recommend you migrate to Banner Shout over GreatRifle. Banner Shout is new shout meta developed last month that allows you to have a banner while having Shout as well, which was impossible before the latest patch. The build competes with Guardian bunker. The build does only bit less support than guardian bunker, but is greater than guardian bunker in terms of damage, cc attack, survivality when you kite (because it has mobility skills which guardian bunker doesn’t have, and also has reflecting trait), and does more support than ShoutBow with Banner’s Regen plus Shout heal. The build fully focuses on Team fight. But you can solo-lord-rush as well, which Guardian bunker cannot do since they have no damage. The build doesn’t lose to current most OP meta called DD cele ele (Just watch video). Actually you can even kill them if you run celestial Banner Shout, but I do not recommend because you will see that it lacks in banner support. Banner regen heal at Cleric or Settler level does super-healing, but it looks kinda lame at Celestial or Crusader level of healing that is only helpful in 1vs1 or 2vs2 which is small-sized fight but not 3vs3 or more which is big-sized fight where huge amount of incoming burst going around. And we focuses more on Team Fight than dueling like being told above.
[TO SUM UP]
I must end this by saying this.
Using a meta is just like you use texi or bus to go to the destination faster. If you do not use it but try to increase your skill slowly, it will take huge time but also, you will learn a lot than just using a meta. However, I strongly recommend you that you first use meta build created by others, but after, you make your own meta build once you get pretty much experienced. I believe this is the best way to enjoy your life of Guildwars 2, which I did same (Actually I was using Stance build before using Shout build). Also, it could be also reason that you might wanna continue using a meta if you are pretty busy with real life as well who enjoys game for just simple fun but probably don’t wanna spend a lot of time into it.
I hope you enjoy warrior life!!!
Best Regards,
