PvP or WvW?
I play WvW 90% of my time. Thing is, the general level of opponents (and allies) in WvW is much lower then in PvP. However, this gets countered by sheer numbers. Fighting outnumbered fights is a lot of fun.
Don’t expect WvW to be clear of condispecs though. If anything, conditions are more present in roaming, as they are generally easy to play effectively and very rewarding. Some condition specs make outnumbered fighting seem trivial (PU condi mesmer, engineer, p/d thief). This is the reason a lot of warriors in WvW stack Dogged March with -condi duration food and Hoelbrak/Melandru.
I’d play more PvP if they introduced more diverse playing modes. The node-sitting style of PvP gets old IMO. Thing is, it is probably the only reason warriors exist in PvP right now, as longbow is such an effective point-holding weapon.

I agree on the PvP part, its just getting repetitive, i am thinking of making the transition to WvW but the thing that gets me is the hours spent on simply running just to find someone to kill, that and the huge lag issue that everyone apparently experiences in WvW.
Well, tbh, WvW does involve a lot of running. That’s why you will probably want either 25% movement increase (which warriors can get easily) or perma swiftness (wow, can get that easy too).
You just need to figure out the ‘hotspots’ for roaming. Then there are primetime hours, when you won’t have trouble finding opponents (they will find you), and the quiet hours, in which you can find nobody at all.
It’s not perfect, but it can be incredible.

PvP. I do not like waiting an hour for the first fight to happen just to see my enemy disengaging at 25% HP with no chance of me every catching him. You don’t have to spend tons of golds to buy a decent gear and food and then pay again to try another build. In PvP, 99% of things are free.
If you actually want to play PvP then play PvP not WvW. Every single WvW fight is uneven, because of different gear level/foods.
Also, warrior probably has the most solid condi removal in the entire game so I don’t get this “getting trolled by condi specs” part. Probably it’s just that you’re not running an effective build. In that case use metabattle.com, you can browse from plenty of PvP warriors builds, all working and tested.
Also, once you begin to understand conquest, it’s fun And new gamemodes are coming soon so don’t worry about that.
Well, comming from other open world PvP games like Lineage or Aion, WvW is the only true PvP for me. That being said I don’t like the Conquest mode that is PvP. I took me probably 10 games of Pvp to figure out this is not going to be something for me.
It is, essentially, a cage fight. Usually uneven fights and the problem that you can’t do anything against that because you are forced to stay on your points or there is just no space to escape to begin with.
Let me explain why I prefer WvW:
Quite simply the major reason – Openness. Imo many classes/builds rely on that.
I am even going as far as saying that a warriors best defense is to disengage. Besides the naturally higher defensive stats a warrior barely has anything to keep himself safe. A Ranger has range + tousands of dodges, a thief has stealth, a guardian crazy heals and blocks you get the idea. A warrior has to rely on his movement a lot.
Infact, In my opinion, that is the reason why PvP is limited to certain builds like Ham+Bow or Axe+Bow because you are tied to the gamemode and the nodes to capture. Not the other way around people claim a warrior is tied to a certain build.
Of course WvW also has a lot of unfair and uneven fights, but you have the option to avoid them completely, which in PvP you cannot.
The difference in gear and food is non-existant. People claiming that this is what ruins fair fights in WvW I cannot take seriously.
In a game where maxlevel is achieved in under a work-week. Exotic gear is being handed out for free and even ascended gear can be crafted easily after a months time there simply is nothing like gear-advantage at all.
I agree, some bufffood items are expensive. Then again, farm some Pve for an hour and you have 2 days worth of WvW fun again.
That being said, everyone has equal chances if they throw in at least a little effort.
Now, WvW has a lot of running that has been said already. But that is a good thing!
It is the practically the only penalty for death. You quite simply have to walk all over the place again. I am not a fan of crazy death penalties but there should be atleast some punishment for dying.
In a hectic game like WvW, a 3-5 minute walk is just about right as a penalty.
(I actually like that the new LS map has only one waypoint. Makes exploring and staying alive that much more awesome. Every open PvE map should have only one waypoint at a major intersection and be done with it)
