Returning from long break and thinking about making a warrior. How well are they at end level and dungeons? I mainly play pve is why I ask. What is a good way to level without crafting? Are there any guides available post April patch? What’s the meta currently? Thanks for any help.

I think I’m an average player. I never did crafting so I dont have ascended or legendary weapons and armor and I dont search for optimal builds or loot. I did most dungeons and I must have been helpful because no one said anything bad. I leveled through quests and explorations only. I dont know any guide but I dont see the use for one either.

Warriors are in a strong place in dungeons, but are both highly overplayed and overrated. You will find many groups want 3 Warriors, for reasons that still confuse me. No group needs more than 1, but every group needs that 1.

This is the current meta build. Any smart group only uses 1 Warrior, and that Warrior needs to bring Empowered Allies, and this is the best build for it. For more “diffiicult” content (30+ Fractals), this build is better, as it allows a strong Might uptime when fights become too long and pre-pull Might wanes early in the fight.

Do note that people are still theorycrafting and testing other builds, so builds – especially the second build – is still up in air a little. In honesty, the Dungeon subforum is a far better place to keep up to date on PvE meta builds than the actual class subforum itself.

For leveling without crafting, you can either do generic open world combat and exploration with GS Sword/Warhorn, level in Edge of the Mists/WvW, or play dungeons on an already 80 and “log at the end”.

Warriors have some of the best damage and very constant damage at that. They also have some very good survivability paired with that damage; which is why they’re so wanted.
Warriors are very good in dungeons. There are a number of builds you can run in dungeons including fractals. The build Harper posted has the highest dps and is probably the most viable build right now.

That’s build is a build for speed running with a group. I’d run something with more power than precision b/c power is greater than precision at lower levels and possibly more survivability depending on your experience with the class.

Use the 2nd one Flissy posted or use the Phalanx str build for pugs.

The builds that people keep linking to by nike are for speed runs with preformed groups and are based on a specific group composition with players running other builds that will synergize with it.

These builds simply are not optimal for Pug groups and solo. Because all the calculations that were done on them are based under a lot of assumptions that are only present in preformed groups that do speed runs and I would go as far to be based on DnT speed runs where specific other classes doing there job and doing it well. Lastly they are based on you as a player playing perfectly where you don’t mess up any of your rotations, ever go down, or have to dodge out of a fight.

If that describes you congratulations you fall into the 1% category of the GW2 community if not than chances are you are an average joe like the rest of us and just need a build that is going to work for you under any scenario that you throw at it.
