Ranged Dps/Utility Build? Help
Well to add my two cents. I’ve been running the latest dungeon (Fractals of the Myst) and gotten pretty far in with my build. I’m a bit lazy to make a build on build editor but basically you rely on your Shouts Heal trait with triple shouts. You get shake it off, on my mark, and for great justice. These three are all on a short cooldown (especially since you will trait 20% faster cooldown on shouts), thus providing aoe heal of 1200 every 20 or so seconds, x3. Each has their own benefit as well, between increased dps (On my mark for burst, for great justice for general), and conditional removal. Now that costs 30 traits, what do you do with the last 40? Simple. Put twenty in discipline. This gets you the increased crit rate, and the vengeance kill = rally. Both of these are amazing for pve. You can also select 20% cooldown on signet (if you go signet of rage), which I feel is more important for pvp, but less for pve. With your last 20, put atleast 10 in Berserker’s power, and 10 as you like. This gets you great dps and great utility. Though the longbow is decent, the rifle is in my opinion much better. Though this is very situational. I say this because longbow is good for AOE dps, while rifle is good for single target dps. 9 times out of 10, AOE mobs I will be using my greatsword (your primary weapon). Thus eliminating the need for a longbow. On the other hand, MANY boss fights require atleast some ranged combat, and it is often much safer to be at ranged. This is why you pick the Rifle for its superior single target dps. Thus you have strong damage, strong utility, equipment for both long range and melee, aoe damage, and tankiness. Make sure to have sufficient vitality and toughness, leaning towards toughness due to your strong healing.
Note: Use healing surge. Conditions are less important in PvE than PvP, and you get the most bang for your buck with surge. Signet is decent too, but when you pop it for its mediocre burst heal, you lose the passive for a significant amount of time.
I would swap Stronger Bowstrings for Inspiring Banners. Use FGJ/Shake It Off/Banner of Discipline as your utilities for shout healing every 10 seconds and permanent regeneration through your banner. Move the 5 points from Arms to Defense for Endure Pain at 25%. You want to focus on Condition Damage (Sword bleed, Bow burning. Your axe is pointless) and survivability (toughness/vitality/healing boost). Pick your own favorites, Toughness is good versus melee while Vitality allows you to soak all kinds of damage, but less effectively. Tactics are easy, survive, keep healing and burn/bleed your foes while you harass them. This is great if you partner as well, as up to 5 people benefit from your shouts. Throw combustive shots at WvWvW to inflict massive AOE conditional damage on entire armies, if you combine multiple people doing the same you can burn an entire army into down state (~6 warriors or so) in a second.
