Really need your opinion! What for secondary weapon?
you can use axe/sheild if you wanted to 100 blade/evisceration to burst someone really fast in WvW or pve and the sheild provide a good defence to go out after your combo if you are glass canon.
mace/sheild if you want a controle weapon set
sword/sheild for extra mobility
gun for ranged combat and when your utility skill is on cooldown.
you could still use other weapon set but those are probably the best choice.
Well, it really depends on what you’re doing, and how you’re doing it.
In WvW, Sword/Warhorn is my swap. With defy pain(trait) or endure pain and mobile strikes, you can get out of almost any big blob of red. The warhorn makes it easy to maintain swiftness and provides group support.
If you are running a glassier setup(pure damage) then sword/shield will be your friend. Since you won’t have anything else to stop the damage temporarily.
Rifle is allright, but a rifle doesn’t help when you need to run away(especially if you’re extra glassy). So I usually just keep that in the bag and pull it out as necessary(during sieges).
I can’t speak for any PvE.
I’d suggest rifle or longbow. Having one weapon that focus on close range and one that focus on long range makes sense to me. Course, I’m no expert.
I have axe/shield with sword/warhorn on backup. Sometimes I’ll switch my backup for the hammer, longbow or rifle when the situation calls for it.

You’ll want a Ranged weapon for dungeons. If you’re running some +Condition gear, then the Longbow is a really nice weapon. However you’re running a Crit build, which is going to be inherently oriented towards the Rifle.
I use greatsword and longbow. Rifle is more powerful on single targets, but longbow is amazing on multiple opponents, and I don’t need a ranged weapon for single targets anyway, so rifle is redundant for me.
Using the stronger bowstring trait also makes longbow dual shot a 100% projectile finisher, on top of adding 300 range. Rifle bullets will only ever be a 20% projectile finisher.
