Guild Wars 2

Hey guys.
So today I have finally hit 80 on my warrior, and to be honest the last 20 or so levels were a real drag. I’ve always planned on being zerk for my warrior, and using the other classes I play for other things. However, I just am dead-bored on my warrior and wish to drop it as soon as possible and play another class. I’m not sure if it’s the weapon I was using or if I’m doing something completely wrong, but I don’t like it.

I’m pretty much a noob and not quite sure what the “check list” is for a new 80 in this game, but what I’m interested in is the most easily obtainable and decent gear I can get, whether through the trading post or earning it. I just want something I can get somewhat quickly so that I can drop my warrior, but I don’t want the gear to be bad enough that I’m gimping myself or anyone in a group, either. So, can anyone give me an idea of what I should get/where?

If you have some dungeon tokens, it’s the easiest way to gear a character in exotic berserker. Karma temples also have some berserkers, afaik. That’s 42k karma a piece. For trinkets, either buy them at tp or directly buy ascended with laurels/ guild recommendations/ fractal relics.

You could get Rares. They are cheap. However if you are not enjoying the class why get gear for it? Just drop the Warrior class and play something fun. If you make the game a chore it won’t be enjoyable.

You can buy a cheap set of rares off the TP if you want.

What do you have in the way of currency? Dungeon tokens, Karma, Badges of Honor, Laurels. You can purchase Exotic and Ascended (trinkets with Laurels) gear from vendors with that.

If you’re looking for TP gear you might as well just get in game, go to a TP, and do a search to see what’s available in your budget. That’s going to be a lot more effective than asking around here.

Why are you worried about equipping a character you’re just going to drop? Don’t waste the gold.

If you got any levels through eotm you probably have enough badges of honour for exotic gear.
Then again if you don’t like it why bother getting gear is the real question.

Don’t know, guess I’m just used to WoW-mentality where you usually would gear your character off of crap gear you bought and then let it sit in case you needed it or it became viable again.

Well I would reccomend PvP for gearing up your warrior. The dungeon reward tracks offer dungeon gear, as well as dungeon tokens to by more gear. In PvP it doesn’t matter what armor you are wearing, as all the stats are normalized, and gained through amulets.

But if you aren’t enjoying your warrior, roll something else. You can always still get gear for your warrior with your other characters so it’s not a huge deal.

The crap gear you speak of probably isn’t a whole lot better than what you’re wearing, so spending money on a character you don’t plan on playing any time soon doesn’t make sense.

And like pdavis said, just play another class as you planned and rack up the cash and currency/tokens/karma/etc. on those characters and if you want to gear up your Warrior in the future it’s there. No point on wasting money now.

Sounds like warrior isn’t for you if you find their fighting style boring. You might as well move on to another class. Find something you really like and then spend that money on them.

Oh okay, I didn’t realize it would be a waste. I thought I could leave it sit or something. Just too new to this game I guess.
I’m already working on a couple other classes that I think will be more interesting.

Oh you can certainly sit on your warrior, and roll another. You do have 5 character slots, and you can buy up to 64.

Just curious, what did you not like about the class? Warrior IMO is one of the most versatile classes to play in this game, as many builds are viable to some extent. Especially in PvE.

Just feels boring AF. I’ve looked around the forums and read the guides, and compared to mesmer, which has 1,092,872,198 guides stuffed with information and different builds, “use the weapon you like” etc., and then with warrior it’s like “well if you want to DPS in a group just do this berserker build, use greatsword, etc.” (I’m paraphrasing). GS is not fun to use, and after comparing the warrior guides with that super long mesmer one I was reading, I feel like they’re not very versatile at all, and you can’t truly play the way you want to and still be viable in a group.

There are indeed many ‘tricks’ to playing mesmer, so if that’s your thing, go for it. I actually started this game out with a mesmer, only to switch to warrior the same day and never look back.

But let me ask you, how many truly different builds does mesmer have for any game-mode, that’s viable?

People tell you to use GS (or Axe/Mace) in PvE because those two sets are the best weapons to use in PvE. This does not mean you can not find another somewhat viable set, it will just be less good. The same goes for mesmer, and they have arguably less viable builds then a warrior.

I do feel that warrior takes less reading up on guides to be able to play. Trust me though, if you play it long enough, there are a lot of details you can master to become truly good at playing one (not talking PvE, because that bores the kitten out of me).

Meh, I think I’m also not that huge of a fan of melee classes as mains. I thought I could get over when I chose warrior, but I haven’t yet. It doesn’t help that using number 2 with GS, the mob often moves out of range (I don’t play alone), rendering the attack useless and triggering a cooldown. I just need to find a good “fit”, and I don’t think it’s melee.

Oh yeah, and the last sentence there – I only planned on playing PvE with my warrior, even from the beginning. PvP I will be doing on either my mesmer or engineer, or both.

Right, warrior is kind of about melee. Even our best ranged weapon is in fact best used in melee range.

if your going for berzerker warrior then you should get your self berzerker draconic armor form TP (or simply craft it your self)

They normally cost around 5-7 G per peace (depending if you instant buy it or preorder)

Another thing is to go for dungeon armor,you gain money while your gathering the dungeon tokens (for accessories) and you get a full cool looking armor aswell

A 3rd option would be to simply buy a RARE quality zerker armor set…its cheeper and not a lot of people realize it but it works quite well.
But rare gear might not be the thing for you considering you wanna gear your warrior up and leave it…

Oh , another thing would be buying gear from wvw…tho you might not have the tokens for it..idk

I bought some off the TP for cheap-ish.
